Hi Matt,
I just noticed this post, and wanted to contribute a point that I am not sure has been raised (apologies if it has been and I am being redundant). While it is a correct assumption to make that not combining all of the cards will decrease the value of lower level cards, I think it will also mean that the value of the higher level cards will be greater (since there are less in existence), and conversely, if it is incentivized for cards to be combined to higher levels, then that means the value of the higher level cards will decrease (since there is a larger amount of higher level cards) and the value of lower level cards will increase (since there will be less lower level cards). Thinking about this, it seems to me that the value overall is roughly the same, and what is being shifted is where the value lies (in higher level cards or lower level cards). That being considered, I think the question that is necessary is: which group should be higher valued?
I would point out that making it so that the lower level cards are more valued will make it harder for new players to get into the game. They will have to spend more money to earn rewards because they will either have to pay for a higher level card even though they only want to compete in a lower league (to earn max rewards), or they will have to spend more on a lower level card since it is rarer (and they will earn less rewards).
I just wanted to raise this point, but I am not an extremely gifted person at thinking about value so I may be missing something, or thinking about this wrong.
Just some food for thought though I am not really voting on this issue. I have decided my sps and buy more cards since I don't have time to keep up with everything going on proposal-wise, and the first proposals have made me worried that the value of sps may decrease with all of the places it is now paying out.
Hope you and your family are well! Sorry to see splinterlands had to make the tough decision to cut people. I still believe this is a great game, and that it will do well in the long run.
