Hi people, today I bring you another Splinterlands card, a mischievous, but dangerous, baby dragon that won't hesitate to rip your face off if you get too close, as always, this drawing is part of the Splinterlands Art Contest of this week.

Dragon Whelp is one of those few drawings that came naturally to me, I was frustrated at not being able to sketch to other Splinter dragon cards, but when I thought about what situation someone would come across this little guy, a very uncomfortable scene for the observer jumped into my mind.

Hola gente, hoy les traigo otra carta de Splinterlands, un travieso, pero peligroso, dragón bebé que no dudará en arrancarte la cara si te acercas demasiado, como siempre, este dibujo forma parte del Concurso de Arte de Splinterlands de esta semana.

Dragon Whelp es uno de esos pocos dibujos que me llegaron con naturalidad, estaba frustrada por no poder bocetar a otras cartas del Splinter dragón, pero cuando pensé en qué situación alguien se encontraría con este pequeño saltó a mi mente una escena muy incómoda para el observador.

As I said before, the sketch almost did itself, I was going to try other poses, but I liked this one so much that I didn't do it anymore.🤣

Como dije antes, el boceto casi se hizo solo, iba a probar otras poses, pero esta me gustó tanto que no hice más.🤣

Then, I went on to make the lineart. When I started this drawing I didn't have my tablet yet so I did it with the vector layers of Paint Tool SAI, I added raw meat on his jaw to make it more evident that we interrupted him while he was eating.

Luego, pasé a hacer la línea. Cuando empecé este dibujo yo aún no tenía mi tableta así que lo hice con las capas vectoriales de Paint Tool SAI, agregué carne en su mandíbula para que fuera más evidente que lo interrumpimos mientras comía.

Then, I moved on to do the base coloring. This phase was very complicated, as I mentioned before, I didn't have a tablet and I was very clumsy when using the mouse, I spent more time erasing the leftovers than painting, and the edges were full of strange undulations, this version you can see was after cleaning it and correcting it.

Entonces, Pasé a hacer el coloreado base. Esta fase fue muy complicada, como mencioné anteriormente, no tenía tableta y era muy torpe al usar el mouse, pasé más tiempo borrando los sobrantes que pintando, y los bordes estaban llenos de ondulaciones extrañas, esta versión que pueden apreciar fue después de limpiarlo y corregirlo.

To continue, I started to make the light and shadow base that I then went on detailing, on the other hand, I made the rocks that separate the dragon from the observer and the beginnings of the background to keep it in mind during the drawing process.

I also made modifications in the colors, in the eye, the spine, and the claws, I added the fangs and modified the shape of the flesh so it didn't look like a tongue 🤣, then I added the corresponding lights and shadows to finally make the eye.

Para continuar, empecé a hacer la luz y la sombra base que luego fui detallando, por otra parte, hice las rocas que separan al dragón del observador y los inicios del fondo para tenerlo en mente durante el proceso del dibujo.

También hice modificaciones en los colores, en el ojo, el espinazo y las garras, agregué los colmillos y modifiqué la forma de la carne para que no pareciera una lengua 🤣, después fui agregando las luces y sombras correspondiente para finalmente hacer el ojo.

With the dragon ready, I went on to make the background, I extended the lines of the rocks and started to play with the brush emulating a rock wall, here between us, I am not completely satisfied with the result, however, for my first time I can't complain.

After making the background I colored the "rock barrier", following the same process.

Con el dragón listo, pasé a hacer el fondo, extendí las líneas de las rocas y me puse a jugar con el pincel emulando una pared de roca, aquí entre nos, no estoy completamente satisfecha con el resultado, sin embargo, para ser mi primera vez no me puedo quejar.

Luego de hacer el fondo coloreé la "barrera de rocas", siguiendo el mismo proceso.

In the next part, I call "Put the dragon in the cave", in essence, I had everything ready, but the values of the dragon and its environment didn't match, so I shaded each element using the Multiply layer mode and modifying the opacity at my convenience.

La siguiente parte yo la llamo "Pon al dragón en la cueva", en esencia tenía todo listo, pero los valores del dragón y su entorno no congeniaban, así que sombreé cada elemento usando el modo de capa Multiply y modificando la opacidad a mi conveniencia.

With the Dragon Whelp enclosed in the cave, I darkened the shadows on the wings because they carry less light than the rest of its body, and I erased part of the shadows to illuminate the areas where the light is going to hit it.

Con el Dragon Whelp encerrado en la cueva, oscurecí las sombras de las alas porque estas llevan menos luz que el resto de su cuerpo, y borré parte de las sombras para iluminar las zonas donde le va a pegar la luz.

I lightly colored a layer with Shine mode to highlight the illuminated areas, I also placed the shadows that bounce off the cave walls and adjusted the opacity so it wouldn't burn our retinas.

Coloreé levemente una capa con el modo Shine para resaltar las zonas iluminadas, también coloqué las sombras que rebotan en las paredes de la cueva y ajusté la opacidad para que no nos queme las retinas.

At this point, I only took care of making small details, like making the background darker, fixing the lights and shadows of the left-wing, modifying the rocks a bit, fixing the eye, very subtle things that didn't let me sleep in peace, and it's ready.

En este punto solo me encargué de hacer pequeños retoques, como oscurecer mas el fondo, arreglar las luces y las sombras de la ala izquierda, modificar un poco las rocas, arreglar el ojo, cosas muy sutiles que no me dejaban dormir en paz, y está listo.

Both this drawing and the previous one, Torhilo the Frozen, were projects that I sketched with ease, but when it came to digitizing brought me many difficulties, either by my lack of ability or lack of equipment its final version was delayed almost a year, however, I do not regret having taken so long, just thinking about how would have been the final result of this dragon a year ago gives me chills.

Tanto este dibujo como el anterior, Torhilo the Frozen, fueron proyectos que boceté con facilidad, pero que a la hora de digitalizar me trajeron muchas dificultades, ya sea por mi falta de capacidad o falta de equipo su versión final se vio retrasada casi un año, no obstante, no me arrepiento de haber tardado tanto, el solo pensar en como hubiera sido el resultado final de este dragón hace un año me da escalofríos.
