Hello to whoever reads my post.
I have been in web3 since the Axie infinity explosion and gone down the rabbit hole of scams and whatnot and after all that, I'm still here and grinding my way through some sense of hopium that once day all these things (SPS) that I've accumulated (from 1 dollar all the way down to today's 3 cents) will still be of value someday (incredibly high on hopium). I've played quite a bit of web3 games and to be honest, none of them panned out. but I'm glad Splinterlands is still here even if the value has gone down so much, there is still ways to earn from this game.
Now to the realization.
SPL Community.
What really surprises me (the realization) is how strong the community it has built. Super solid group of people helping the economy of Splinterlands. I may complain from time to time that these promos/proposals are all whale friendly but these whales are also doing what they can to help Splinterlands stay on its feet. 100k group sales from this christmas promo.. insane. So community is 10/10. Without you, SPL would be dead in the water.
Lack of Content.
But Jiko, we had new rulesets.. new promo card, runi, .5 land, riftwatchers... new reward system, ghost tournaments blah blah blah... These new contents... offer little impact to the meta as a whole. Keyla has been meta forever. I'm sick of seeing kelya water all over the place and getting steamrolled by him/her over and over again. but we have Aquatus... no, just no...
a. New Sets/Collections.
The SPL team is not perfect.They have fumbled along the way. I'm bored half the time on townhalls so I normally just read the summary. Anyway, they have downsized and deliverables are tight. Glad they have finally delivered runi and some semblance of Land. Still long ways to go. What concerns me is the team's capability to delivery new content (exclude land since that has been long overdue). Now when I say content, I'm looking at new sets/collections. We are starved... choking with lack of new cards. I'm astonished that CL set dragged more than year before the burning even happened.
Do you know how many new collections Gods unchained released this year 2022? Major sets of Mortal Judgement and Divine Order (ok maybe this started late 2021 but it went on to 2022 so bite me), mini set of lights verdict, new Core cards and now Winter wonderland.
Do you know how many new sets Hearthstone released? Every quarter. Major sets. Major impact. crazy meta changing cards. Keeps the game fresh and not boring.
Splinterlands? We had a few new reward cards and Riftwatchers... that's it. Airdrops don't count... they're like 4 or 5 pieces, irrelevant in the grand scheme of things (except you Lux... you bae.. someday I'll have you... someday..) We had Runi... that is just 1 expensive card... so nothing really to be excited about.
b. Battlepass/Soulbound Reward Cards
I'm all for it but please make some of them desirable. Esp Skins. I honestly do not like the existing skins being sold in the market. They're ugly. They need to step up their game on skins. A lot of people would pay for good skins even for a cheapskate like me.
Don't take forever to make them. SPL needs these to drive income stream into their company.
Bottmline: New content new sets = people interested, intrigued, happy = buy packs = income for company.
Final complaint/s... Ramblings
Can't we fix the darn Sounds on the game? I'm going deaf all the time playing the game. I always turn it off because it's so disturbingly loud and obnoxious.
Mobile app is in tatters. If they don't plan of building the app, might as just take those down and improve mobile game browsing on hivekeychain app.
Lastly...
I'm happy we have GLG and Tower defense coming up but I don't think it was the right move right now. This takes money/resource away from Splinterlands which in all honestly still need a lot of work. a ton of work. improve, develop....
Ok... that was more than I wanted to say. Please take it as constructive criticism. I love TLG. I just wanted to voice my opinion. I want the game to grow. I'm just concerned citizen of Splinterlands. I'm just a krill within a krill.
