Memes aside though, the recent townhall has introduced a new rule set which allows players to play one additional Gladiator card in a match. Mimicking the effect of how fray works, you're able to get the best of both worlds by playing a Gladius card without having to use the new soul bound summoner.

Since we're no longer relying on waiting to get the soul bound summoners levelled up to use a Gladius card in standard rank matches, it's time to take a look at the best Gladius cards to use in each splinter when we tackle this ruleset. These picks are the best ones I think add value regardless of league you play since accumulating Gladius cards are hard. We're considering only CL summoner combos for now. Order is based on which ones out of the list I'd like to get first if possible with first being least and last being best. Let's get to it!

Fina Voxom

Ideal Summoner: Jacek
Downside: Legendary so hard to get from pack

Fina is amazing as she's high damage and high speed. When paired with Jacek's speed and pierce buff, she essentially starts of with 7 speed. She becomes your ace dealer with bloodlust as a juicy bonus. She'll easily destroy backlines and keeps on getting stronger.

Xulax Nightwind

Ideal Summoner: Astral Entity
Downside: Legendary so hard to get from pack

Xulax works differenty as he's a frontline tank. Since resurrect isn't really a death thing, it's a good combo with the latest legendary summoner, Astral Entity. On top of that, void armor works extremely well in the resu synergy. It's a good changeup as the void armor / resu combo is usually from the life splinter and having this combo in death opens up doors for more diverse strategies.

Flagulon Reine

Ideal Summoner: Kelya
Downside: Legendary so hard to get from pack; High Mana cost

Flagulon is extremely strong even at level 1. Blast is extremely good and complements bloodlust very well. Pairing her up with Kelya boosts her speed and gives her a bit more sustain with the extra armor which in turn, let's her potentially get even more attacks in. She's essentially Ruler of the Seas but with bloodlust!

Tatiana Blayde

Ideal Summoner: Jacek
Downside: Legendary so hard to get from pack; Low HP

I consider Tatiana as a bonus, really. Having her is amazing and being neutral is icing on top. He combo of 2 different attacks and being able to be in the front line can be devastating as both attacks benefit from bloodlust. Base speed is also 5 so pairing with Jacek gets her to 7 which can be ridiculously strong especially for rulesets like no magic. Bonus if you can get her to at least level 2 for that juicy dodge ability unlock.

Sola Ranjell

Ideal Summoner: Rathe
Downside: Legendary so hard to get from pack

Sola is simply an amazing card. With a tank heal and damage, she can support and deal out damage at the same time. Think Divine Healer but on steroids. The best kicker for Sola is her unlocked ability at level 2 which is her cleanse. Cleanse is an undervalued ability which I think will rise up in popularity in the near future.

Quora Towershead

Ideal Summoner: Immortalis

Quora is the crème de la crème of Gladious cards. She's an epic card and while that's high up in rarity, it isn't as hard to get compared to the legendary ones. The real kicker is that she has a heal. That's on top of having 2 attack types which can make her your tank or secondary tank while having 2 chances of finishing off her opponent to trigger bloodlust. She's pretty much top tier among all Gladius cards and I'm sure she'll be spammed constantly when we are finally able to get our hands on the new rule set. Honorable mention is to pair her up with Llama, sorry Kron!

There you have it, folks! There's a lot of variety and this list is purely my opinion. There's also a lot of different things you can consider like rule sets and different mana caps but I am very excited for this new rule set to come into play. It also gives you practice so that when you do your frays, you have a bit more experience on your belt.
