Hello everyone 🙂 welcome back to my Splinterlands blog, where I talk about my favorite game twice a week with the two challenges we get to further fund our decks, this weeks Battle Mage Secrets challenge is about the Reversed Speed ruleset, to find out how you can participate in the challenge yourself, you can read the Splinterlands post here.
Did you know you can very easily make thumbnails like the one I made for your posts on photopea? it's totally free and web based.
Well my day started great! I turned on my computer and put in some ranked battles to drain my energy a little before it got to 50, I met Kira1995, a well known leaderboard player I of course didn't stand a chance against, because I don't have EVERY card on the right level because some are simply too expensive, then I knocked my coffee mug and spilled coffee all over my keyboard, good thing I was on my desktop and not on my laptop so I could just clean everything without any permanent damage, I now know a keyboard is the filthiest place in a house 🤢 I took out some keys to thoroughly clean it - it's a pretty old keyboard and I even found hairs of our cat that we had years ago!
Ok, back to topic... let's look what Splinterlands say about the reversed speed ruleset:
Units with lower speeds will attack before units with higher speeds. Attack Accuracy based on speed will also be reversed.
Units with the Bloodlust ability will increase speed after killing a unit.
Avoid using Slow as this will help your opponent.
So yeah, the bloodlust that doesn't help is a thing I have to remember because I used it in my battle, I still won so that's good, there's just so many things we have to remember for all different rulesets I sometimes just forget certain strategies so I made a little cheat sheet that's next to my screen 😁.
With this ruleset, I see magic being played a lot so I always use a tank that counters it, like void or at least void armor.

First look at the battlefield

My opponent made a nice team with anti magic AND anti ranged capabilities, the fast Mitica is a mistake in my opinion, I expected magic on heavy sneak to I protected against both, no sneak present though.
My Line-Up:
- Summoner: Tarsa - reason: The Fire team is generally slower with high damage so a good choice now.
- First position: Grum Flameblade - reason: Magic protection, high damage, slow.
- Second position: Radiated Brute - reason: Good damage, slow.
- Third position: Etin Spearman - reason: Good ranged damage, slow.
- Fourth position: Scavo Hireling - reason: To repair Grum's Void Armor.
- Fifth position: Spirit Hoarder - reason: I expected sneak, so to heal sneak protection.
- Sixth position: Naga Fire Wizard - reason: Sneak protection.
The Battle:

Round 1: Not much happened, or well... the damage got healed and repaired, except Unicorn Mustang is wounded and getting pretty fast because it's enraged so it's going to miss a lot.

Round 2: the Mustang died, Grum is very dangerous now but with bloodlust he's getting faster so that's not the best, his damage is great though! No chance in healing against that.

Round 3: That went fast this round, two monsters died on the other team, my team is still complete and hitting hard.

Round 4: Round 4 ended very fast so the screenshot is from the start of Round 5, not much of a difference, Earth Elemental is at the front and unable to shoot and unable to out heal so much damage so this is done... very nice card though! I wish I had it but even in the bear market it's a $14 card at level 4 and I don't want it THAT much.
That's it for Battlemage Secrets for this week, let's see if I can come up with a nice subject for this weeks Social Media Challenge...
