Happy 2nd birthday Hive! Now I got it why SPK Network is having an airdrop on the 20th of March. Though I cannot participate in the writing challenge about Hive’s birthday, I am with you in celebrating the too many significant milestones that happened last year. And besides, I am just more or less a seven-month-old Hiver and do not know much about Hive. What I do know is that this blockchain is really very challenging to describe. It’s like many things to many different kinds of people such as artists, musicians, educators, investors, traders, gamers, and many more. It’s really difficult to exactly identify the type of people on Hive.
For investors, Hive is attractive to those who understand this blockchain as a compounding machine. Add to it the fact the opportunity to do micro-investing via layer two tokens.
For gamers, we have Splinterlands, dCrops, and Rising Star to name a few. And more are still to come like Ragnarok, PsyberX, and Muterra.
For artists, musicians, and others, Hive has so many communities where everyone can fit in.
Again, happy 2nd birthday Hive!
Time to turn to Splinterlands’ Share Your Weekly Battle Story. In this post, I just want to focus on a dragon summoner, Quix the Devious.
In the world of Splinterlands, there are seven kinds of summoners. Among them, I like a dragon summoner the most because he can call three types of warriors: dragons, neutral fighters, and another kind. This capability puts a team under a dragon summoner in an advantageous position compared to other teams.
As for dragon monsters, my favorites include Dragon Jumper, Robo-Dragon Knight, and Djinn Chwala. With the introduction of Chaos Legion packs, Chaos Dragon caught my attention.
Robo-Dragon Knight is a very strong defender of the frontline. With its eight shields and void ability, the combined attacks of the enemies seem not enough to take this monster down.
Dragon Jumper, I gave him the title the “king” among opportunity monsters. The only monster with a similar ability that could equal him is Deep Lurker, the monster from the water splinters. With flying ability and speed, this fighter is almost unreachable for land and slow monsters.
Djinn Chwala with her thorn ability is also a good alternative as a tank facing melee attackers. However, she’s weak in the face of magic and ranged enemies. As a backline supporter, she’s really good against sneak attackers.
As for Chaos Dragon, you can read about his power as you read our battle story.
Our story is about the victory of Quix the Devious. In this fight, we will see that not one of his fighters dies on the battlefield.
INTRODUCING QUIX THE DEVIOUS
A Brief Background Taken from His Lore
This summoner was first a dragon slayer before he became a dragon summoner. His ability to summon dragons was actually an outcome of killing one dragon. After making a necklace out of the fangs of that dragon, he also gouged out its eyes and received power as a result. Later, he realized that with his necklace, his ability to summon dragons improved. Since then, he made it part of his goal to accumulate more powerful items from the dragons.
Stats
At level 2, Quix the Devious can summon a level 5 common monsters, level 4 rare monsters, level 3 epic monsters, and level 2 legendary monsters. With this level, a player can use this card in the Silver League. Renting a level 2 Quix the Devious is not so expensive. You will just pay around 5 DEC. But if you are interested to own this card, you need at least $80.00 plus to combine three level 1 cards.
As for the Gold League, you need six level 1 cards or two level 2 cards and combine them to upgrade Quix the Devious to level 3. The total cost will be around $160.00. At this level, this summoner can call level 8 common monsters, level 6 rare monsters, level 5 epic monsters, and level 3 legendary monsters.
Finally, for the Diamond and Champion leagues, a level 4 Quix the Devious can summon level 10 common warriors, level 8 rare warriors, level 6 epic warriors, and level 4 legendary warriors. To own this card, you need at least $293.00.
BATTLE LINE-UP

Mana Cap: 99
Ruleset:
Weak Magic. Magic attacks hit armor before reducing health.
SUMMONER: QUIX THE DEVIOUS
This summoner is very powerful to demoralize the enemies due to his ability to reduce their speed and to subtract one attack from ranged warriors. Quix the Devious, facing life splinters under the leadership of General Sloan will invalidate the ability of the general to add one range attack to all his ranged fighters.
FRONTLINE WARRIOR: UNICORN MUSTANG
As I already shared in one of my battle stories, Unicorn Mustang is my favorite earth tank because of its speed, high health, and high Melee attack. Add to it, its void ability that reduces damage from Magic attackers.
SECOND POSITION: CHAOS DRAGON
I placed Chaos Dragon in the second position to replace Unicorn Mustang just in case the latter died early. This dragon has 3 magic attacks, 3 speeds, 10 health, and 4 shields. Add to them its abilities to fly and to attack the enemies in a random way, this beast is really very dangerous. Every time I see a high mana fight like this current battle, Chaos Dragon comes first to my mind.
THIRD POSITION: MUSHROOM SEER
With Mushroom Seer, I smile whenever I see the other player using a magic summoner. With its ability to reduce magic attacks, to my mind, the defeat of the other team is almost certain.
TANK HEALER: GOBLIN PSYCHIC
A tank healer plays a vital role to keep the frontline warrior alive.
RANGED ATTACKER: HUNTER JARX
Hunter Jarx is my favorite sniper. His three Range attacks are enough to be a serious threat to the enemy in the second position.
LAST POSITION: ZYVAX VUUL
This is the third card dragon I bought. I think that was five days ago. I paid $4.03 for this card. I took advantage of the current price decline. Since I already own this card, I want to test its capability in an actual fight especially that recharge ability.
BATTLE RESULTS
This battle is earth versus the combined forces of earth and dragons. The fight lasted for four rounds.
First Round
Before the battle starts, the camp of Quix the Devious has already an edge. The speed of all enemy monsters has been reduced. Also, the damage that can be done by ranged attackers like Supply Runner and Goblin Tower has been minimized. Moreover, due to the presence of Mushroom Seer, the ability of Obsidian to grant an additional magic attack to all friendly warriors has been nullified. Goblin Psychic, Mycelic Slipspawn, and Regal Peryton were affected by this.
Nothing significant happened in the first round.
Second Round
In the second round, Supply Runner perished first due to an attack from Chaos Dragon. As the round continued, Zyvax Vuul killed Mycelic Slipspawn next.
Third Round
Chaos Dragon had its second victim. This time, a very powerful winged monster, Regal Peryton.
Fourth Round
Zyvax Vuul was competing with Chaos Dragon in terms of number of victims. It doesn’t want to lose the competition and so it had its second casualty, the enemy’s tank – Unicorn Mustang! Hunter Jarx killed Goblin psychic next. Finally, the healer in my camp completed the victory by annihilating Goblin Tower.
Not one of Quix the Devious’ warriors die in this battle. The summoner was very happy and lead his fighters to the next battlefield with a big smile!
