Survival Mode made its return for S161, and I definitely felt its positive impact on my bottom line. The season, however, came at a very busy time in my life, with the end of the school year and lots of preparation for my summer holiday in Italy. I missed a few key tournaments, and I still have not optimized my collection for use in Survival Mode, so rewards could have been even higher! But nothing to complain about, as you'll see, the numbers look very nice when it's all said and done. Let's get to the numbers.

I started the season in Champion 3 for all three formats for the first time ever, so I spent the whole season battling for top leaderboard spots. Unfortunately, I wasn't paying close enough attention to the bot running in Survival Mode at the end of the season to notice it wasn't doing very well with depleted cards on the last day of the season. I lost 300 points in rating in the last day and fell under a 4300 rating, which meant demotion to Diamond 1 to start S162.
All the same, Survival Mode was a big win for me, playing 305 battles and winning 186 for a 61% win rate. I fell out of the Top 10 but still finished in 13th place for a juicy Glint bonus, too!
In Modern, I played 239 battles and won 136 of them for a 57% win rate. I wasn't able to break my all-time high rating of 4700, but I did hold onto a Top 50 spot on the leaderboard with a 4500 rating at season's end.
In Wild, I only had to make the bot play 204 battles, mostly when I was busy, to avoid wasting any excess energy. XBot managed 119 wins from 204 battles for a 58% win rate. There was also a bit of a rating slip near the end of the season when my card pool had already been drained by Survival Mode, which cost me a spot in the Top 50 Wild leaderboard. But it was just a small difference on Glint, so nothing to get worked up about.

As you can see, I did manage a Top 4 finish in the recent @yggspl-official YGG GAP Open Card Premium Tournament for some Conclave Arcana packs. I opened just about even value of $12 USD from the packs, but the big returns came from the @sps.dao public tournament events. I only earned 8524.2 SPS from the SPSDAO tournaments, which is down from the typical 10K+ SPS earned in previous seasons.
Sadly, I fled from some of the bigger purse events in S161 that I don't typically miss. I fled Day 1 in 10 of 24 events I registered for, and also fled Day 2 in one of them. That's nearly half of all the tournaments in the season. So much SPS left on the table, even though I thought I was paying better attention this season. But life happens. What I lost in tournaments, I surely made up for with Survival Mode.
I didn't have any Top4 finishes in S161, although I did finish Top 8 in 4 other events. If I look at my average return from the 24 events I registered for, it was only 355 SPS per event. But considering I missed Day 1 for 10 of them, averaging 609 SPS per event over the 14 I did play in is much more palatable.

Wow... look at the size of those Ranked Reward returns! 14432 SPS from just Survival Mode. That is mind-blowing to me, considering I only started getting aggressive with 4 days left in the season. Based on my Survival stats, I averaged 77.6 SPS per win and 47.3 SPS per battle.
Modern clocked in at 5323 SPS and Wild at 1953 SPS. Modern's SPS per win was 39.1 and Wild's SPS per win was just 16.4 SPS. The spread was a little bit better when looking at SPS per battle, but it still favored Modern 22.3 SPS to 9.6 SPS. Wild earning suffers from half of the SPS bonus and more drain from account automation (which I employ myself).
I also earned a bit less Glint than I'm used to from my ranked season. I definitely played fewer ranked battles in Modern and Wild because I did not buy any additional energy, and might have even wasted some of my extra energy while optimizing for Survival Mode.
But that 900K Glint from Ranked play received an extra 550K from leaderboard bonuses across the three different formats. All that extra leaderboard Glint allowed me to open two more GFL reward card chests as I work towards finishing my complete set of Gold Foil Rebellion Reward Cards.
⭐ SPS Report
Type | ⭐ Amount |
---|---|
Staking Rewards | 1439.553 |
Ranked Rewards as above | 21709.036 |
Brawl Rewards | 574.826 |
Land Rewards | 2964.079 |
NET SPS | 26687.494 |
Combining all three ranked formats, I cleared over 21K DEC from my 441 wins, averaging over 49 SPS per win. I need to buy more energy and play more battles. Ranked is more lucrative than ever!
Land added nearly 3K more SPS, and this number continues to creep HIGHER each season as I suspect more people divest from SPS production to focus on resource development. Brawl rewards trend downwards as more guilds water down Tier 5, but the staking rewards trend up as I add more SPS to my stake with each daily reward claim.
The SPS totals for S161 are my highest yet, bolstered by the return of the company prize pool for Survival Mode. I earned 26687 SPS from rewards and another 8524 from @sps.dao tournaments for a combined total of 35211 SPS! Based on today's spot price of 0.0075 USD, I earned $264 worth of SPS plus another 1.45 M Glint.
Strategic gameplay in Modern is at an all-time high as people continue to level up and explore the cards in the new set. I am still engaged as ever battling for leaderboard position and tournament prizes.
Week after week, I'm using my rental profits and tournament winnings to buy more Black Foil from the marklet to increase my rShare and Airdrop Points. I'm excited that we'll start to get the new legendary airdrops soon, to further shake up the modern metagame.
Great time to battle in Splinterlands. Until next time...
