Poor little girl, she looks so sad sitting there in the snow!
Fortunately, there are now abundant clues that Spring has finally arrived in Kansas and is here to stay. First the tulips around town have all started blooming including our token contribution in the front yard. There were a lot more of them a few years ago, unfortunately negligence on my part has thinned their numbers some.
Our Crabapple tree has burst forth in a dazzling display of pink.
Of course the grass has greened up and is growing and now needs mowing at least once a week. Which led to this next little surprise sign of spring. Yesterday while I was mowing the yard, as I got close to the deck, I saw a flash of grey out of the corner of my eye. I stopped the mower and went over to investigate and found this baby rabbit.
She is only about 4 or 5 inches long at the moment. I let her be and trying hard not to disturb her, I finished mowing. Then this morning, I went out back to check if perhaps my little friend had returned. Sure enough, I spotted her hiding under an evergreen bush next to the deck.
So it looks like we have a new neighbor. I'll have to be careful when I mow the next few weeks until she gets big enough that I'll be able to easily spot her. Here's a little video I shot of her for you to enjoy.
Until next time...
