I’ve been stacking Gold and Silver since 2015 and just like my experience here with STEEM it took me a little while to figure things out and come up with a strategy that suited my goals. I’ve now got a bit of a system and so when @silvergoldbotty announced a new Contest for stacking goals in the New Year using the tag #stackingoals it prompted me to check and see what I’ve got on the shopping list for 2018. I guess you could say I have 3 main goals as a stacker for this year.

I started buying the semi-numismatic Gold Lunar coins from the Perth Mint Australia initially because they look like really cool coins with a changing design every year. They do a 12 year series and the current one started in 2008 and will finish in 2019. I started out just buying recent years and then found myself working backwards in time. I’m building 2 sets and the only coins I’m missing are the Lunar Mouse from 2008 – which I have since learned is the Key Date for the series and commands a bit of a premium. I need 2 of them if anyone has any good leads to pick these up at a reasonable price I’ll pay a finder fee!

Some people prefer bars or coins with a nominal fiat value, but for whatever reason I like the 99.99% purity Silver Rounds. They look nice and they’re a good size to handle or trade and I don’t really care if there is no government appointed fiat value on them because I’m buying them for the metal with a skinny premium. I’ve bought mainly Buffalos and Pegasus but I have the odd Libertad, ABC Eureka Medal and of course some STEEM Silver Rounds. I’ve got room for another 100 rounds which I’d like to add this year.

I’ve got some semi-numismatic collections going which I’ll continue to add to when their respective 2018 coins come out. 1oz Silver Koalas, Kookaburras, Lunars and Pandas are all a bit of a must-buy for me each year, plus of course the Gold Lunars previously mentioned. I also have a collection of 10oz Silver Lunars which is probably my favourite. There is something about those huge coins I really like the feel of and if you like the coin designs there is no better way to explore the intricate details. I like looking at them so much I haven’t been able to put them in secure storage yet and don’t think I ever will.
So those are my stacking goals for 2018. Goal #2 I will probably buy on the secondary market from www.silverstackers.com and Goal #3 will most likely come direct from the coin dealers, but I don’t know where or how I’ll complete my Goal #1. Lucky I’ve got 12 months to figure that out!
