The YT-1250 freighter was a model of freighter produced by the Corellian Engineering Corporation, which was widely considered the most prolific starship manufacturer in the galaxy. The YT series spawned several other ships, including the YT-1300, also known as the Millenium Falcon.
A brand-new YT-1250 would sell for about 120,000 credits, while a used model could be acquired for a measly 30,000, making it a great choice for those who are just getting into the smuggling "business".
The Dynamic-class freighter was a light freighter built by a subsidiary of Core Galaxy Systems on the remote Republic world of Transel around the period of the Mandalorian Wars. Though prized for its ability to be modified with ease — a trait advertised by the class's name — Dynamic-class starships were rare throughout the galaxy as only one ship was produced at a time.
A stock Dynamic-class freighter was only modestly armed and shielded; however, the ship was designed to accept modifications without compromising existing systems and most ships were therefore heavily customized by their owners. Dynamic-class freighters had relatively less area onboard to hold cargo than other light freighters but possessed ample space for passengers, allowing the class to operate as a transport.
It saw extensive use during the Old Republic era, with a very affordable price of 80,000 credits (brand new) or 30,000 (used). The most famous ship of its class was definitely the Ebon Hawk, but even more interestingly, it's said that the Corellian Engineering Corporation eventually drew inspiration from old Dynamic-class schematics while designing the popular YT-series.
The Baudo-class star yacht was a favorite ship of rich youngsters. It also had the ability to be easily modified, so the ship was sometimes used by smugglers, despite its steep price of 400,000 credits brand-new, or 250,000 when used.
Usually equipped with a fast sublight drive and a single (yet powerful) laser canon, each yacht was custom-built for its owner, and the construction of each and every single ship was overseen by its creator, Mendel Baudo. For some, that more than justified the high price.
The Class 720 freighter, also known as the Ghtroc 720, was a light freighter manufactured by Ghtroc Industries. Though less popular than the competing YT-series, the Ghtroc 720 developed a following in the Outer Rim Territories, where Ghtroc Industries was located, and thousands of the freighters remained in use even after the manufacturer went out of business.
Although it was mainly used during the Rebellion era, the Ghtroc 720 also saw some use during the New Republic. With a base price of 98,500 credits, it's safe to say it would go for around 50,000 creds when resold.
The Scimitar, also known as the Sith Infiltrator, was a heavily modified Star Courier and the personal starship of Darth Maul. After his "demise" during the Battle of Naboo, the experimental starfighter was appropriated by Maul's master, Darth Sidious.
You can't quite buy the Scimitar, seeing as it belongs to Darth freaking Maul, so your next best option would be a Star Courier, a transport that became very popular among darksiders — in fact, Palpatine himself owned one of those during the Ghost Prison incident (see: Star Wars: Darth Vader and the Ghost Prison, a five-issue miniseries).
The Lambda-class T-4a shuttle, also known as the Imperial Shuttle, was a standard light utility craft in common use throughout the Imperial military as a transport for troops and high-ranking individuals. You've probably seem a lot of these in the films, comics and perhaps even books, so I doubt there's really a need to explain it any further.
If you're looking for a ship to infiltrate an Imperial base, though, you can't do much better than this. The hard part is actually acquiring one, since it sits around 240,000 credits, and isn't commercially available under regular circumstances. Bribing and hijacking may very well be the most sensible options.
Manufactured by the Corellian Engineering Corporation, the YX-1980 space transport was one of the most popular starships of its kind during the Legacy Era. If you're looking for a reliable cargo hauler to move goods across the galaxy with a minimum amount of fuss, that's your ship. Sure, it's not as fast as some of its competitors, but what it lacks in speed, it makes up for in defense.
Fairly expensive, the YX-1980 might not be affordable for most beginners, but it's still a great investment for those looking to upgrade.
The Vanguard-class heavy assault gunship was an assault vessel manufactured by the CEC during the time of the Galactic Empire. There isn't a lot of info available about this ship, but one thing's for sure: carrying 2 fire-linked turbolasers, 2 fire-linked blaster cannons and 4 proton torpedo launchers (with 8 torpedoes each), it packs one hell of a punch.
The YT-2400 light freighter belonged to the same series as the Millenium Falcon, although it's a considered improvement over the aforementioned ship (much to Han's chagrin, I'm sure). Favoured by smugglers (a trait common among the YT series, it seems), the light freighter proved itself so reliable that it was still being used during the Legacy era, circa 137 ABY.
Despite its improvements over earlier models, its price is pretty much the same as its precursors, like the YT-1250.
The Wayfarer-class medium transport was a medium transport known for its detachable module (shout out for all the browncoats out there, btw). The versatility offered by the detachable module was initially exciting, until it was revealed that the armature could not accept standard cargo containers. This, combined with a high price tag, ensured the demise of the Wayfarer-class’s production.
Despite the flaws that kept the Wayfarer from becoming a huge commercial success, the ship’s versatility made it a well-rounded vessel. It was popular with smugglers who could dump the cargo pod if they needed to avoid customs inspectors. It was also used by Rebel forces as an assault shuttle.
Designed and introduced several years before the Battle of Yavin, the XS-800 light freighter was a very successful craft, but not nearly as popular as other Corellian Engineering Corporation ships, like the CR90 corvette.
Manufactured by Corellian Engineering Corporation, the Barloz-class was a no-frills freighter. It contained many of the innovations that would later make the YT-series such a success, but it was phased out when the YT series was introduced. Its low price and high-cost benefit makes this ship a great choice for those who are trying to become a smuggler, but can't afford anything else.
That'll be all for today, folks! Watch out for Imps, fly safe out there, and may the Force be with you.
