my country is in a deplorable state
it might seem like an exaggeration
because it is in a masked deplorable state
it is beautiful on the out side
we are rotting on the inside
we are at war in a time of peace
mass burials with no invaders
we are in a one sided call to arms
on the other side is a defunct government
diseases attacked us, fatal diseases, we won
now illiteracy ravages us, kills our loved ones
our militia holds a record worldwide
but not one soldier is deployed to stop the violence
our government is either blind, deaf, lame or all
they will rather commission buildings and roads
they will rather focus on party politics, upcoming elections
while my friends keep dying, while our sons keep crying
being slaughtered being butchered like animals
i awake with tears on my heart
i arise with fear in my soul
we are at loss for words, but not for action
we will take up arms, we will kill for our friends
we will fight not just the killers, but the enemies in power
the ones meant to be leaders, but are strolling lonely paths
we will shed our blood, we will shed thiers
we will lose our lives, so our sons can live thiers
we will die on this cause, so this dream may live on
