Joining the Steem blockchain, around 2 years ago, felt a little like I was hitching a ride to the Future.
I did so, upon my wife’s recommendation —a financial analyst, interested in cryptocurrency and, increasingly, distrustful of institutions. This leap of faith paid off in more ways than one.
It has kickstarted my creativity as a writer, after something of a dry patch (that was not helped by posting, daily, on Facebook) and I find myself, now, writing more and differently. Currently, I'm in the process of compiling my 8th book, a genre-bending collection of prose and poetry pieces, many of which were composed, here!
One of the undisputed highlights for me has been collaborating with other creative souls on Steemit, over the years, such as having a poem of mine put to music and sung by the versatile @Carlgnash, or Canadian music producer, @rok-sivante, transforming my poetry into fresh and transporting works of art. There were other collaborators, with visual artists and musicians who have since moved on; but the memories, like blockchain, will last...
Come to think of it, like all meaningful life events, joining Steem seems to have been an act of Fate: the magic of timing and how one door opens, just as another is closing.
Two years ago, I admit that the big money to be made was a major incentive. Whereas, lately, it is the idealistic community who think differently and share common values that keep me coming back to listen/learn/play as I share my own thoughts and feelings with these intimate strangers.
As a small way of giving back, I've tried to get the word out on the merits of Steem to my 12,000 followers on various online platforms in hopes of enriching the exchange.
May we continue to find our way and grow along with this noble platform 🙏🏼✨
