Let's start talking from the newest update.
After the poll results in an overwhelming yes, @steemitblog took actions rapidly leading to a second update.
Quoting from the Why part of the first post:
The reason why Steem has downvotes is to enable the Steem user base to self-regulate and police the distribution of tokens from the rewards pool. If Steem only had upvotes, that would enable people to exploit the rewards pool while leaving other users without the ability to counter that behavior.
This is extremely important. There has been the etiquette on Steem that flagging was a brutal behaviour, instead Steem is saying that downvoting it's a form of user-control on how rewards are distributed inside the platform. Things like plagiarism, scamming, spamming are not tolerated in the blockchain and should not be rewarded.
The second (in time) big news is the new Fiat to STEEM exchange. In fact FreedomEx added STEEM pair with various currencies, like US Dollars, Canadian Dollars and Euros. FreedomEx also has a Steem social profile that you can follow for the latest updates.
Last but not least, DTube has been integrated in Steem. Being able to embed D.Tube videos is such a step forward for video sharing and media contents.
I've been extremely happy of the latest development, those followed the #SPUD, Steem Power Up Day. Have you been powering up recently?
