Hey guys! If you are interested in drones, the initial cost might be a problem to start with.
Creating Drone Shot, the decentralized drone community on Steemit, I wanted to reunite creators and spread the passion for drones on the blockchain.
This is the reason why I thought about explaining two solutions that can suit different purposes and budgets!

Budget of 100 $
The best intro drone on the market, according to numerous review (such as the one I made some time ago) is the DJi Tello. This is my actual drone and is a great one for beginners. You can simply download the app on your Android or iOS device and start flying from there. Easy set up, easy to use.
Pros
- Extremely low price, under 100 EUR/USD
- You don't need any other equipment than your smartphone
- No need of SD cards, footage gets saved on phone directly
- Great item to start learning how to seriously maneuver a drone. You'll avoid the risk of damaging an expensive one and/or creating a mess 😂
Cons
- The drone can shot at 720p max
- The range is pretty limited, over 30m will start to get blurry due to connection issues on WiFi signal. A solution is creating a bridge connecting the drone to a power bank with a mobile router, then the router to the smartphone to pilot it.
- You need a lot of storage on the smartphone, and iPhone seems to be preferable for a more stable connection
- Camera is not movable separately, so you need to shoot by moving the drone itself
Budget of 500 $
One of the middle price drone that get a two-axis gimbal, trace function and a 1080p stabilized possibility for shooting is the DJi Spark. It does still connect with your smartphone, but it uses a remote controller to get a better signal up to 2km and in 720p streaming.
Pros
- You can shot 1080p stabilized
- If battery is too low or connection is lost, you can use RTH (Return-To-Home) functionality to get the drone back automatically, based on GPS signal
- Great functionalities, such as Panoramic mode, Tracking, FPV support and much more
- Gestures possibility, to interact with the drone and/or command specific actions (Away and Follow, Record, Selfie and more)
- Speed in sport mode is up to 50kph, so a great drone even in case a strong wind rises. It's still not suggested to fly drone during heavy wind, but a strong motor is indeed a safety net
Cons
- The drone can't shot at 4k, nor at 1080p 60 fps. The cap is 1080p 30 FPS
- Maximum battery autonomy is still really low, at about 15 minutes. In normal usage is probably around 10/12 minutes
- You need to buy accessories to unleash the full potential, such as a proper miniSD card for the storage, multiple battery to change those on the go and/or a DJI Googles if you want to experience FPV (First Person View)
- Camera is movable, but stabilized on 2-axis only
As you can see, the prices for good drones dropped a lot recently. What do you think of drone? Are you interested in them? Do you already have one?
Let me know in the comments below. I'll try to expand the community of drone's users on Steemit to get more traction on the platform as well, while providing useful and entertaining contents.
This is the time I need community help. I'm powering up all the way up to 10K SP. Upon reaching that, I'll try to accumulate as much liquids as possible towards drones equipment, which is indeed expensive. If you have spare SP and/or you want to help it become real, please consider a delegation to @bafi or other form of support.
Thank you
