Let me just start off by saying.. Your ego can either be your best friend, or your worst enemy.
This actually ties-in with my previous post on humbling yourself.
For many people, the word 'ego' is in-fact a synonym for the word 'devil'. See, your ego is your devil within. People who's needs are to protect their own ego, know no boundaries. They will do whatever it takes to protect it. In many cases, it could be the cause of the most influential bad behaviors from people.
It's actually quite a catch-22 situation. See, if your ego is within you, then it becomes apart of you. It is also said that your ego is your worst enemy. However, if that stands true, doesn't that make your worst enemy not your ego, but rather you. Interesting isn't it?
Further more, you are the only one who is able to control both yourself, and your ego. This ties in directly to the first sentence of this article. Your ego can either be your best friend, or your worst enemy. You are the deciding factor.
Your ego is basically the giant 'I' in your head. It's the thing that personalizes the word 'you' when it's said generally-speaking. It's your own take of what reality is like from someone else's opinion.
Crazy, I know.. But can you deny it?
The issue is created when the ego starts to cling onto things.
We tend to want to nourish it a bit more than necessary sometimes. See, the ego is very self-preservational. So when you are trying to uplift your life, and attract new success, your ego will act as a defense-mechanism and try and hold you back.
Why, you ask? Simple. It doesn't like to explore reality for what it really is. That's why ego-driven people are not very coachable. They don't accept any other reality than that of which they have created for themselves in their head. That's the problem.
Since this topic is an extension from my previous post, the conclusion will be similar.
In short, we need to put our ego's aside, and start valuing others' opinions too.
