To be honest I'm embarrassed @JerryBanfield has actually reached the top 20 witness pool as not only does he get insane rewards for running a few servers, he also continues to misrepresent the Steemit Community with his ridiculously upvoted posts.
He is not 'GOD' on Steemit and there is no Halo around his head, although he'd lead you to believe it is so.
So rather than contribute to his work, by adding any sort of comment to his post I'm going to address his 25 Commandments in this little post. (I wish I had the funds to upvote this higher than Jerry Banfield's Mega post to prove a point, but no doubt this would also fire up @berniesanders too)
I'm Calling Bullshit on this one, Jerry Banfield
And fortunately, Jerry get's his minions to transcribe his videos so I never have to watch them :-P Sorry @dlive but I won't be using your service today!
So the title of the post is
25 Reasons Steem Will Replace Bitcoin as #1 Cryptocurrency by 2021!
Now, it's a little clickbaity wouldn't you say?
Steem isn't likely to become the number one currency within 3 years, as this title is likely to be handed to tokens like Ethereum or derivatives of it.
Sure we might eventually pass Bitcoin but this doesn't automatically give us the #1 title position. In the next 3 years, we'll need to be better than the next 3 years worth of innovation that has yet to come.
That said I believe we'll eventually be in the Top 10 Cryptocurrencies, but #1 in 3 years is just click bait.
The crypto that wins this race is the one with mass adoption and we're still a long way from this. I'm afraid to say 60K active daily users still isn't the critical mass we need to surge ahead of the pack.
But's let humor Jerry and have a look at hit 25 commandments in detail.
1. What truly provides value for a blockchain and a cryptocurrency?
All the time, energy, and money I invest into Steem adds value to it alongside what millions of us are contributing from reading posts on steemit.com to watching live streams on @dlive to buying Steem and SBD on exchanges to talking about Steem with our friends and family.
Why does Jerry need to constantly remind us of how much 'he' contributes to Steem by pouring his time and money into this platform? We are a community and we all contribute to making the platform what it is.
2. The Truth about Transactions
Yes, we have proven we can handle the most simultaneous transactions on a blockchain, yadda, yadda, yadda, but we aren't comparing apples with apples. Most of our transactions are with words, comments, upvotes etc. and not the monetary transactions that reside on other blockchains.
Honestly, until we're continually in the Top 10 by trading volume on the majority of exchanges and are still only worth a few dollars can we be labeled as undervalued.
3. Smart Media Tokens
Yes, we've heard a lot about SMT's but until they've been released, we can't rely on them driving us to the No. 1 position in the crypto world.
And yes, they will provide value but the unanswered question is how much?
4. Surviving a 98% drop isn't a reason why we'll be No.1 in the future
I'm totally calling BS on this suggestion. Come on Jerry lift your game. Surviving a 98% drop just means we've survived and have resilience. Nothing more.
5. Within just two years, we already have nearly one million accounts
But with 60K active daily users, this doesn't sound like we've reached critical mass does it? 6% of created accounts using a social media platform on a daily basis isn't a reason we'll be No.1 in 3 years.
6. Becoming the home of ICO's
Again, the smell around some ICO's will eventually linger here and the Steemit might become a little on the nose for some in the mainstream. And being able to buy your way to the top of Trending via bid bot's isn't a plus for our community. It's a negative unless you actually own a bid bot.
Oh, wait Jerry does and it supports him as a witness so the more powerful his bid bot becomes, the stronger his witness position is.
Well played Jerry, well played.
And for the record Google and Facebook, are banning said advertising because many ICO's are just selling pipe dreams and will never amount to anything useful.
7. The Eco Blockchain
I have to agree with Jerry here. Surely, the excessive power consumption of Bitcoin will eventually, become its downfall. The world is moving to more greener pastures, whether we like it or not. And the Steem Blockchain is well positioned to take advantage of a low power economy in the future.
8. Bloggers Love Posting on Steem
Yes, us Bloggers love posting on Steem because we can get a decent backlink from a Top 1000 domain, but we're also aware that posting similar content to our blogs on Steemit put's our own blog at risk of being bumped in Google Search Rankings by a higher ranked domain such as Steemit. It's a catch-22.
Bloggers don't enjoy the control on Steemit, when they can command their own blog
9. Being Featured on Wired isn't groundbreaking
OK, so we were featured in an article, Wow!
But how is the estimated hundreds of daily visitors from said article going to drive us to a No.1 global position in crypto? It's a lame argument at best.
10. First Mover Advantage
The first mover advantage goes to Bitcoin. So what's your point?
Are you saying Bitcoin will be the No.1 cryptocurrency in 2021 because they were first?
11. Live Streaming is Handy
Yes, @dlive is impressive and could offer endless opportunities for live creators if they decided to make the jump from Twitch, but people go where the eyeballs are and as yet, they aren't pointing in our direction.
12. Open Source is still a small movement
If you ask anyone on the planet, about which Open Source technologies they use, few will be able to answer you. Open Source is still a niche marketplace and isn't big enough to drive us to the No.1 position and time soon.
Although @uptopian-io is a valuable contribution to the Open Source Community and will help to bring more exposure to Steem over the coming years.
13. 14. 15. 16. Steem Platforms are Awesome!
Come on, you only name drop @dsound, @busy.org, @futureshock, @esteem, and crew because you want their vote for your post or as a witness.
Which of these platforms has actually 'popped' with mainstream attention?
Having somewhere to play, doesn't mean you'll get a crowd to watch you play.
Of course, I'm just bitter you didn't mention @blockdeals because we're building a real-world deals website that actually has a solid plan to become the mainstream entry point to Steem in the near future. Watch this space.
17. Facebook and Youtube aren't sweating on their loses
Nice article by the way, but Furious Pete is also at a crossroad because Youtube still pays consistently over @dtube rewards. And until this is fixed, only disgruntled or banned users are making the switch to the Steem alternatives.
Hardly, a reason to rejoice.
18. Investor incentives
Yes, we know your voting bot pays higher rewards, and the more powerful your bot the higher you move up in the witness ranks. We get it.
But, we'd prefer investors to upvote quality work and earn curation rewards rather than give it to bid bots for exploitation by greedy ]bloggers](https://steemit.com/dlive/@jerrybanfield/3ffc3520-426a-11e8-836a-b9befc1a6029).
I'd hate to think anyone with over 26K followers would need to upvote their content by over $1000 just to get on top of Trending.
How many active followers do you actually have Jerry?
19. More Bid Bot Promotion
Again, Bid Bots aren't the evolution we're looking for.
20. We are good at communities
Yes, I agree, the communities you mention https://minnowsupportproject.org/ lead by @aggroed, @ausbitbank, @someguy123, @teamsteem, @thecryptodrive, @canadian-coconut, @followbtcnews, @netuoso, @reggaemuffin, @drakos are helping to grow Steem.
And I can link drop too!
But how much have you delegated to said communities? http://www.steemreports.com/delegation-info/?account=minnowbooster
I can't see your name near the top of the list.
Oh wait! You did delegate 1000SP. Well done.
21. Exchanges + Steem
Getting Steem on exchanges only helps our cause when there is enough volume to sustain us in the Top 10 traded volumes.
It's hardly a reason to celebrate, then use it as reasoning for us to become No.1 in 3 years.
22. Transaction Transparency
No shit Sherlock!
It's called the blockchain, and blockchain explorers have been around way before our genesis block.
23. Smartsteem is our savior
Again just more link dropping to get @therealwolf to vote for your post. Admittedly, SmartSteem appears to have more going for it than your bid bot.
Here's a call out to the Top Delegators to the @jerrybanfield bot to switch to Smartsteem. Even Jerry says it's a good idea!
@freedom, @livingfree, @coininstant, @jasonclay, @joeparys, @captaincanary, @jefflutz62, @skenan, @jeff-55logclub, @honusurf, @drorion, @iansart, @e2mmzw02giw2wvm, @good-fellow, @prosirius, @xauxag, @tomasgeorge,
gmichelbkk, @rfiser51, @tastetwist, @kdtkaren, @aruliard, @inventor16, @dhn0411, @boaz-os
24. Visting JerryBanfield's Top 25 post will make us No1. in 3 years.
Obviously, at this stage, he was running out of ideas and just thought he'd promote one of his posts to get a little backlink action. It's hardly a reason why we'll be No.1 in 3 years.
25. A final link drop
Yes, @ausbitbank also get's a mention here. Maybe he'll vote for you as a witness and secure your position in the top 20.
Or Maybe he won't.
Summary
Yes, I'm calling Bull Shit on Jerry Banfield and his attempt to convince us we are going to be the No.1 cryptocurrency in 3 years time.
Personally, I'd be happy if we were just in the Top 10. Because nobody can predict what's on the horizon in the crypto space.
But one thing is for sure, we need to continue to Evolve or Die.
And this is largely in the hands of Steemit INC. and major players like @ned and @sneak and the witnesses who will ultimately decide how we proceed from here.
Let's roll out Hard Fork 20 as soon as possible, and start Steeming ahead!
PS:
And just for the record, someone with 233,987 subscribers on Youtube should get more engagement than this wouldn't you say?
How popular, really is this guy?
Just saying!
