Steem has a reward pool that must be paid out everyday, around the clock. It should’ve been a highly competitive game where the best content contributors win. A grand contest. But we ain't there yet.
Here’s what might need to happen next.
We need global ruling.
But who makes the rules?
Answer: Intelligent topic and rule "randomization" via the blockchain. Blockchain developers code in the intelligence, perhaps partially selected from an aggregation of trending topics on the Internet, but the blockchain ultimately rolls the dice and makes the decision.
Example of a pop-up screen whenever post editor is loaded:-
1st January 2020.
Topic of the day: How to Save Steem.
or
Topic of the week: Milk.
or
Topic of the month: Climate Change.
Rules:-
- Every rewarded post and vote must be relevant to the topic.
- Satire only.
- Original content only.
- Avoid surpassing Voting Circle Index of 3.142.
- Don’t break any rules, or you may receive downvotes.

So there are no rules to having one's own rules?
The power of the written word.
Can you see it now? This solution provides clear guidelines for both posting and voting behaviors. It's the anchor we sorely needed, since the individual rules / tastes of voters are apparently unacceptable when money is involved. Expectations on Steem will become so much easier to manage and we may achieve better results.
This is all we really needed since the beginning. Imagine millions of people duking it out in one global arena, trying to best each other. Becoming better and better.
I know I’ll use such an platform daily. Great content, plus the ability to earn some crypto by participating. Why not? It has a unique place in everyone's digital lives along with the other already established apps. That's how Steem could get widely accepted around the world.
Let’s just go with this simple plan.
