Many new users don't know how to calculate how much their posts are actually wort in US dollars and they give up when they see here on steemit.com only a few bucks or less per post.
Prices at the moment:
1 SBD = 13.250 USD
1 STEEM = 2.60USD
And reward are split: 67.95% SBD / 32.05% Steem Power.
so for a example your post is worth 3.25$ and after curation when u take 25% off( 25 is the max curation so usually less than that) you are left with 2.6 that equals 1 STEEM but with reward split u actually get 0.680 SBD and 0.320 STEEM POWER
0.680 SBD = 9.01$
0.320 STEEM POWER = 0.83$
so your post of 3.25$ actually is worth almost 10$
thats how u can callculate your rewards or u can use a tool developed by witness @dragosroua wich does all that for you and i find it wery useful and simple to use and understand
