Beep boop! Hello Steemians! This post is to announce the implementation of a recent upgrade to @lottobot!
The main feature added this time around is that @lottobot will no longer simply fail to give an upvote in the case of a lottery with no entrants. Before, if the time came to declare a winner and the lottery had no legal entrants, @lottobot would simply complain to the command line and start a new lottery. Now, however, if the lottery is empty at win time, @lottobot will choose from among all recent posts and give a 100% upvote to one of them at random!
Some notes about this update:
- This does not affect normal lotteries with one or more entrants. They will still work as they always have :)
- @lottobot will select from all posts made in the past 2-5 minutes approximately in the event of an empty lotto.
- Only root posts can be winners of lotteries. Comments on articles ("replies") will not be entered.
Check out the GitHub repo for the full code of @lottobot: https://github.com/ErikLetson/steem-lottobot @lottobot is maintained by @hmagellan. Follow him for more info!
First time hearing about @lottobot? Interested in giving it a try? It's easy! Simply send 0.1 SBD or STEEM to @lottobot and include the URL of the post you would like to enter in the lottery as a memo! Approximately every 2.5 hours, @lottobot will select a single winner from among all entrants to award a 100% upvote to!

So long for now Steemians! And best of luck!
