What's The Problem?

Like the image above that shows an example of using a memo, it is also an example of spam. It's a unsolicited message sent to me purely for advertisement purposes.

The problem is spam, but what is the solution? Well probably a native chat and adding communities. Until then there seems to be a lack of understanding or agreement on sentiment towards what qualifies as spam. This post stems out of a discussion I had on my last post where someone complained about me sending mass messages to my followers. I am very conservative with the frequency of this, I only do it once a month. All my followers who joined in said they didn't want me to stop and were happy I was doing this. Given I've only ever had 2 complaints since I've joined I figured it isn't much of an issue. However this person seemed to believe it was, so I'm letting the public discuss and decide. If you as a whole find that it is inherently wrong I will stop. Personally I believe if you subscribe to me, you're opting in to receive updates occasional from me. My messages are usually informational like an announcement or like a pinned bulletin message.

Because I don't think my personal judgement is enough, I need to understand how people feel about this and why and I will stop or continue based on the discussion here.

What are your thoughts on mass memoing?
Is it strictly spam?
Are there exceptions?
Is only memoing your followers acceptable?
Are non-promotional messages still spam?
What's a reasonable amount to send in one day?
