So we decided to take a critical look at steem again. The question remains “can steem, a freely earned cryptocurrency ever appreciate in value? or why will a freely earned cryptocurrency, steem ever appreciate in value? There is a popular saying that “most people do not value free things” and its true. Sometimes we wonder what exactly will drive the value of steem to the moon! Can we really tolerate the idea of seeing steem rise in value and watching people earn it for free? we shall examine the factors that can actually cause the price of steem to rise. It is also very important that we keep facebook records and how it grew to a billion dollar company in mind. Can steemit do that?

The Crabology Mentality of Steem :
Anyone can create a content but not everyone can create a content perceived valuable and worthy of upvote by the entire community. We believe that a lot of people have undoubtedly believed they have received an undeserving reward for a content they put in so much effort in creating. Hence the development of crab mentality – “If I cant earn it for free, let the value gets stuck”
Even the steem white paper recognised this possibility. No wonder they told the story of the crab bucket..
THE STORY OF THE CRAB BUCKET
"One time a man was walking along the beach and saw another man fishing in the surf with a bait bucket beside him. As he drew closer, he saw that the bait bucket had no lid and had live crabs inside.
“Why don’t you cover your bait bucket so the crabs won’t escape?”, he said.
“You don’t understand.”, the man replied, “If there is one crab in the bucket it would surely crawl out very quickly. However, when there are many crabs in the bucket, if one tries to crawl up the side, the others grab hold of it and pull it back down so that it will share the same fate as the rest of them.”
So it is with people. If one tries to do something different, get better grades, improve herself, escape her environment, or dream big dreams, other people will try to drag her back down to share their fate.
Moral of the story: Ignore the crabs. Charge ahead and do what is right for you. It may not be easy and you may not succeed as much as you like, but you will NEVER share the same fate as those who never try."
Why The Value of Steem Will Rise in the Future
History has proven times without number that money is the crowd and not in the crowd. The idea of a decentralised crypto community, that requires zero purchase of the coin to engage or interact, is a more compelling reason to attract more people to steemit. And we all know how the popular saying goes, show me the crowd and i will show you the money. It is very obvious that a lot of people are not yet aware of steem and how to make money from it, even those currently existing in the community. Steem might not head to the moon but people are headed to the moon, and they will surely drag steem along.
