I know everyone has their own paths to lead and struggles they face but one thing really gets to me about people who complain about this and that on Steem yet, FAIL to produce ANYTHING close to worthwhile, engaging, useful, educational, beautiful... something, anything.
I call Bullsh*t
The current bar for "quality" on this platform is so damn low yet so many people are seemingly incapable of taking the microstep required to make it over. It is almost like some people try their absolute hardest to avoid providing anything interesting at all. Steem Limbo Champions.
Sure, everyone has their own definition of quality but I wonder if they even enjoy writing and reading their own work and if they were to read similar coming from someone else, would they think it was worthwhile the read at all?
People can claim "I don't have the time" or "The rewards are not worth it" but, why stay here at all then? Sure, some are here to just hangout and read or even just shitpost and cross their fingers but, why them complain about how the platform operates or who is doing what? If you don't care about your own content here, why the hell do you care about what others post or do?
Again, this is about investment into the platform and many people are just not investing but, still have expectations about extracting. Complaining about whales doing this or minnows doing that but at least, they are doing something. Sure, it might be acting like assholes but, at least that keeps things interesting.
The "I don't have the time" excuse gets to me a little considering, it take about 10 minutes to create something that passes the 'bare minimum' requirements and some people are doing this and bidbotting bare minimum into Trending and, no one really cares. Sure, SMTs will solve it all so, screw quality til then.
Worst date ever
What is worth effort in this world, what is something that people deem 'worthwhile enough' that they will invest a little bit of effort into creating something of interest? It is no wonder sex is on the decline, just too much work for too little gain, after all, the X-box doesn't need dinner and a movie before it lets you play.
People are so shortsighted as they talk of all of their hopes and dreams and why they can't reach them because it is all unfair yet, can't put in the smallest amount of effort to even attempt to deliver something from themselves. Are people just so uninteresting these days they have nothing to talk about?
Self-respect
I can only state my reasons why I produce what I do the way I do and that is because I have some self-respect and do not feel I am entitled to reward for nothing. Yeah, I would love to be able to earn a hundred or two on a post but, I don't expect I am going to earn it on nothing posts, even if others are earning this way.
I still have some sembelance of work ethic that says I have to give something to get something, trade something of value, for something of value. What is of value is of course not my place to decide so I can only offer what I think is of value and hope that others on the platform (and in life in general) feel the same and decide, "Yeah, I am going to support that".
A tall order I know in an environment that value is only based on what has monetary return."If you can't make me a little more money than that shitpost next to you, you get nothing".
Rewarding content
It is hard here isn't it? Take a lot of work to get any support, doesn't it? Man, I don't know how many hours I have sunk into this place to get into this position so far while watching 10 minute posts making what I earn in a week. I am retarded to have some personal standards aren't I?
Personal standards of what one produces is for the monkeys who will never make it as while they work themselves, the smart ones are working the system, doing as little as possible for maximum returns. What they fail to realize or ignore is that the Trending page is the result of maximizing the effort/reward system. Optimization of talent for return increases the return, not the talent and as society keeps rewarding it the shittier the talent becomes, the lower the bar.
