People seem to love to wrap themselves up in fear and negativity.
I read an article yesterday calling for @ned to step in because everything is being ruined. While I will admit that, in my opinion, much of what is taking place is extremely distasteful, Steem is far from being ruined.
In fact, delving into what is going on makes one conclude that Steem is kicking ass. There is a reason it is the top blockchain right now when one uses reasonable analytics.
If Steem is being ruined, how come it is still processing over 1.6M transactions per day? That is almost 1M more than the closest competitor according to bloctivity.info.
We received word last week, via a video that was also on Dlive, that the sign up process is being tended to and we should see measurable results in 2-4 weeks. The last two days saw 17K and 8.5K signups respectively. Certainly, we are not sure if that was from a change in the sign up process or just a clearing out of the backlog, but it is a step in the right direction.
Also, according to @penguinpablo's numbers, we crossed 800K users total. The 1M milestone is just around the corner.
I know some people have an issue with Alexa rankings since they tend not to tell the entire story. Nevertheless, they do show trends so we will use them from that perspective.
Steemit.com is now a top 1000 site in the world.
D.Tube is totally on fire. Just a few weeks ago, the U.S. ranking was in the 70K range with the world ranking over 100K.
Now look at it....
For the fourth straight month the trajectory on the chart is heavily upward. YouTube going on their censorship rampage is paying dividends for D.Tube.
Another site that is shooting up the charts is Dmania. Memes are very popular it seems.
While the overall numbers might not be that impressive, look again at the trajectory. It is almost straight up.
But wait, there is more.....
You ever use Dsound? Evidently someone is....
Finally there is Zappl...potentially a twitter killer...
There are 5 applications posts, one (Steemit) is in the top 1K while the other 4 are showing strong upward trends. These same four, according to Alexa, are still in their first 6 months. What is amazing is 3 of them could be top 100K sites in the U.S. by the end of the month if the pace continues. For a blockchain that is less than two years old, I think that is a terrific accomplishment.
All this looks pretty positive to me.
We also got an update from the developers about the SMT protocol. In that update it was stated that we are not too far away from seeing a testnet established. That is really good news. This means that SMTs, at least at the testing stage, are just around the corner. To me, this is the STEEM holy grail. It is what will separate STEEM from most other blockchains.
Thus, my only conclusion is STEEM is kicking ass. Even the developers are communicating more which is a grand achievement.
Sure we could dwell upon the negative and how certain people appear intent on blowing up STEEM. The bottom line is STEEM is too powerful for any one group to destroy. There are 60K daily active users on here, most of whom are not involved in what is taking place. There are also a ton of developers and heavy hitters who are programming amazing things that we will see end up on this blockchain in the next 4-6 months.
Step back and look at the forest instead of the trees. Everything is moving forward.
Now if the price of cryptocurrency would only move up...well that is another story. 😁
