The Hive
I don't intend to re-open this debate. There is one part of what I have seen I would like to relate to Steemit and the Steem chain. I do understand that Steem works on a proof of stake system to elect its witness for the Steem chain. However the power of those to gain control over the chain does seem to be a dictatorship.
This can be seen without effort from the recent changes to the platform. The reduction in the ability for any new user to gain a foothold and grow. Both the reward they can get has been cut and any chance of a curating reward reduced to a minimum. Reminds me of the democrats. Their way has to be the only way.
No matter how many votes gained by an individual, When it comes to a decision each member only holds one equal vote.
So I watched some of the drama of the impeachment process. From 100 members of the senate, all of who got elected to that position from votes gained from the electoral.
I very much doubt that all of these elected representatives got the exact same amount of votes from the electoral. I would suggest that some may have had thousands less/more votes than others. Yet, they all carry the same vote weight when voting.
Each vote cast, regardless of how many votes got them to that position. They all only had the power of one vote. Unlike with Steem, once you reach that top twenty position as long as you abide by the controlling few and direction they wish to take the Steem chain, you will remain there.
The top witness will have us believe they are looking to Mass on-board users to the Steem chain. While reducing the ability of any new member to grow.
The focus of this on-boarding will be done to bring people to their entry point to the Steem chain and its new Reward Token. Increasing the value of that token and not Steem.
This can clearly be seen by tokens who use the Steem chain to provide rewards and efforts to get those tokens listed on exchange sites.
To promote the Steem chain using these new SMT's. A Steem exchange should have been developed to provide exchange of these tokens to Steem or vice versa. This system would increase the value of Steem. Having those tokens listed on an external exchange and no need for any interaction with Steem will reduce the value of Steem in the long term.
If I am the only one who can see this type of thing happening. maybe this post will let others also see a similar view.
