Trending
For most people, trending is an afterthought. It's a place you don't bother to look because most of the stuff there are STEEM/SBD preservation posts, and STEEM backscratching posts. Don't get me wrong, these types of posts arguably have their place. But you have to ask yourself: Do they tell a compelling story to the casual onlooker?
Trending Is The Public Facing STEEM Showcase
Most people care about what's in their feed, which they will grow and occasionally prune over time. There is no equivalent option on the public feed (trending), so what floats there is how outsiders develop their impression of the ecosystem.
We Need A Good Mix
We need a diverse array of high effort blogs, with good engagement, and compelling discussions. This will attract the widest possible audience.
Give Authors Something To Aspire To
If the community judiciously chooses blog posts to place into trending, their overall quality will improve over time. It will also create a valuable feedback loop to challenge authors to improve in all areas. The current state of curation is thus, if a post is found by one curator or curation project, nobody else touches it due to profit motive. This pushes the best organic or STEEM agnostic blogs far down below the aforementioned preservation and backscratching posts.
We Need A Pipeline For Exceptional Posts
I challenge the community to share their exceptional discoveries (preferably within 12 hours) in the comments below, or send me a memo to get connected on discord. Any curator's found posts boosted through this program, will have a bounty awarded to them via bounty posts such as this one.
For this particular post, the bounty has been set to @steem.dao, as the previous two posts were found by yours truly.
Special thanks to all curators (@acidyo et al.) who voted to trend these posts, or have provided their valuable feedback! Let's find more and trend them!
