INTRODUCTION
An act of kindness beyond what is due or usual is called favor. A favored person gets a connection from His favorite that no other person gets. It can also be regarded as good will-as against ill-will. God's favor is like the whole Trinity the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost wishing you well.
SOURCE
Definition: Favor means an approval, a support, or a liking for someone. It is gaining approval, acceptance ar special benefits or blessings.
TEXTUAL SOURCE
Deuteronomy 7:6-8 For you are a people holy to the Lord your God. The Lord your God has chosen you out of all the peoples on the face of the earth to be his people, his treasured possession. The Lord did not set his affection on you and choose you because you were more numerous than other peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples. But it was because the Lord loved you and kept the oath he swore to your ancestors that he brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you from the land of slavery, from the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt.
Favor is preferential treatment with the stamp of hevean. It is like God showing unquestionable favoritism based on His sovereignty. The experience of Jacob over Esau prove this well as preference of Israel to the Canaabites to take over the Promised Land.
What accompany Divine Favor?
God's favor is a virtue that goes with a lot of unequalled and unparalleled blessings.
1.) Matchless testimony: Mary was the example of this.
Luke 1:28 The angel went to her and said, "Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you."
It is eternally settled that Mary's kind of favor is matchless till eternity. Even the angel of God, angel Gabriel acknowledge Mary was highly favored. This kind of favor stands out. It is unrivaled, unparalleled, unique, peerless and incomparable to none.
This favor is once and for all in God's eternal agenda.
2.) No empty exit: For Israelites to bring something out of Egypt, favor is a necessity.
Exo 3:21 And I will give this people favour in the sight of the Egyptians: and it shall come to pass, that, when ye go, ye shall not go empty.The idea of empty exit is to make nothing out of exploits even a righteous and hazardous one. For the children of Israel to leave Egypt as mere slaves after having enjoyed the best of the land under Joseph for quite a long while can be very frustrating but the Lord didn't allow it.
3.)Exaltation of the horns: A horn is a traditional instrument used specifically in Israel for announcing something or someone.
Thus, the Exaltation of horn signifies announcement of somebody's fame to those that needs him or her.
Psa. 89:17 For you are their glory and strength, and by your favor you exalt our horn.
A man favored by God is never allowed to fall into or remain at the mercy of his enemies
4.) Answered Prayers: It is amazing that favor is at the back of every answered prayer.
Isa 49:8 this is what the LORD says: "In the time of my favor I will answer you, and in the day of salvation I will help you; I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people, to restore the land and to reassign its desolate inheritances,Every answered prayer is a proof of the favor of God who answers prayer. *Favor is a measure of grace bringing our ways blessings we wouldn't have merited*
5.) Restoration of Glory: Here we have another story of David.
2 Sam. 15:25-26 25 Then the king said to Zadok, “Take the ark of God back into the city. If I find favor in the Lord’s eyes, he will bring me back and let me see it and his dwelling place again. 26 But if he says, ‘I am not pleased with you,’ then I am ready; let him do to me whatever seems good to him.”If a man loses any measure of glory he had from God for any reason, God's favor alone could bring it back.
Let us therefore brace up and open our lives to receive all these graciously from the Lord.
