Scripture reference
John 17:19-20,
19 It is for their sakes that I sanctify myself, so that they, too, may be sanctified by the truth.
20 I ask not only on behalf of these men, but also on behalf of those who will believe in me through their message,
Are you living just for yourself and for now or are you investing in the lives of others and future generations. God wants us to do good things that will positively affect the lives of others and even future generations. Jesus is our greatest example when it comes to investing in others and in future generations. In our text above. Jesus said that He sanctified Himself so that his disciples would be sanctified. He also prayed not only for the disciples that were with Him when He was on the earth but also for every one of us who would eventually become his disciples.
Our second text above prophetically declares that we will raise up the foundations of many generations. Like Christ, God wants to lead you and use you to accomplish great things that will save lives and positively influence future generations.
Philippians 2: 4-5
says, look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus. Don't give up. Continue to follow God's leading to make those sacrifices and investments for others and future generations.
When the Bible says that a good man leaves an inheritance for his children's children (Prov.13:22). this inheritance extends beyond material possessions. Also 'children' here is not limited to just your biological children. The good works and the seeds that you sow into the lives of others also serve as a major inheritance that you leave for your children and your children's children.
