You can do anything but not everything...Allen David
Every person living on this planet has a limitation. It is so dangerous when someone begins to think he can do everything. That is the kind of mistake which many have committed and have landed into troubles and even met untimely death.
If you are a leader you should know that you are not a superman and you have your limit. Jesus started his ministry at the age of 30 and did effective ministry work for 3 years. During those times it was all about him and no one else. A time came for him to leave and pass on the baton to the disciples to continue the race. He finished his assignment and there was no way he could have continued. As a good leader he knew his time was up and had to leave.
It was now time for the Holy Spirit to take over, He could have gone on and on but he reached his limit. He acknowledge that to the disciples:
However, I’m telling you the truth. It’s for your advantage that I’m going away, because if I don’t go away, the Helper won’t come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you. John 16:7
Today many Christians and to be precise church leaders who have been in ministry for a very long time do not realise when their time is up and have to leave for others to continue. They die without raising leaders to tale over. Sometimes because leaders want to win over the admiration of their members they try to handle many activities in the church all by themselves neglecting those who are gifted and talented who could have been helpful to them.
God never gave one person everything in this life, you are limited in some areas and that is why you need to recognize and give preference to people who can fit in the areas where you cannot fit.
You cannot do everything even if you have all the spiritual gifts or are multi talented. You surely need someone somewhere because of your limitations. At some point Jesus realised the work load of ministry and allowed his disciples to help him alongside. The needed more people for work but he had few :
Then he told his disciples, “The harvest is vast, but the workers are few. So ask the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest. Mathew 9:37-38
He couldn't do it alone, he needed others to do what he couldn't do all by himself. If you are a man or a woman of God know that you too cannot do everything all by yourself. Give others the chance to also play part in the ministry work.
Do you lack administrative skills or knowledge to run the church? employ someone who is gifted with that skills or knowledgeable to help you.
Are you a teacher or a preacher and do not prophesy ? With your teachings and pastoral call help to raise prophets who will help you alongside. Moses as a good leader recognised that he cannot do all work of God alone and he needed people to help him. He prayed to God to raise him other prophets who will help with the huge task of ministering to the Israelite. God raised 70 men to help him.
And Moses said unto the LORD, Why have you afflicted your servant? and why have I not found favor in your sight, that you lay the burden of all this people upon me? Have I conceived all this people? have I begotten them, that you should say unto me, Carry them in your bosom, as a nurse bears the nursing child, unto the land which you swore to give unto their fathers? From where should I have flesh to give unto all this people? for they weep unto me, saying, Give us flesh, that we may eat. I am not able to bear all this people alone, because it is too heavy for me. And if you deal thus with me, kill me, I pray you, out of hand, if I have found favor in your sight; and let me not see my wretchednes. And the LORD said unto Moses, Gather unto me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom you know to be the elders of the people, and officers over them; and bring them unto the tabernacle of meeting, that they may stand there with you. And I will come down and talk with you there: and I will take some of the spirit which is upon you, and will put it upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with you, that you bear it not yourself alone. Numbers 11:11-17
Don't just try to handle all matters, all issues and all activities and land yourself into trouble one day. You cannot do everything, give chance for others to also play their part.
