The word of God came to Jeremiah saying , "Take a scroll of a book and write there in all the words that I have spoken unto thee against Israel, and against Judah and against all the nations from the day I spoke unto thee, from the days of Josiah even unto this day " jer. 36vs2.
In those days, there were no computers and printers, typewriters or even ball point pens and pad of papers, so imagine how tedious their job of writing was.
Everything had to be taken down by a quill and ink on a scroll. Getting messages down there, was a painstaking process. Now God gave Jeremiah the prophet a specific prophecy about Israel and Judah and he told him to record it on a scroll. Jeremiah called his secretary, Baruch, who wrote while Jeremiah dictated. When the king heard about the scroll, he ordered it to be brought to the royal palace and read to him. As his attendant Jehudi was reading it to him, the king would take a few columns that have been read, cut them off the scroll with a knife and then, burn them in a fire. The king did not like what jehudi was reading, because of his unrighteousness lifestyle and did not want to change. So he cut up and burnt section after section of the scroll until he burned up all Jeremiah's prophecies.
Can you imagine how Jeremiah must have felt when he learnt that all of his hard work had been burnt?
Have your ever worked on something for a long time and after you had struggled and done everything you knew how to do and somehow it got destroyed?
The word of God to you is
DO IT AGAIN
.Just like he told Jeremiah in his terrible dilemma and discouragement. Take another scroll and write on it all the former words that were on the first scroll.(jer 36:28).
If you and I want to be strong and victorious In this kingdom of God, we must be willing to do it again and again if necessary, until we get a breakthrough.
