I work in the public education system in Japan and I want to expose the students I work with to exciting cutting-age technology and scientific developments. If possible, I would really like to expose students to stories about young teenagers around the world who are developing world-changing ideas, organizations, technology, etc.
I have a forum here that I can use as I see fit. I write short, weekly articles that use pictures to generate student interest, written text to convey information, and Youtube links, etc. to encourage students to learn more through independent study. I post these articles on the English bulletin boards I have been granted use of at the schools I work in.
Being that my knowledge of current technologies and the young people who are making an impact on our world is limited, I am looking for suggestions from all of you. What do you think are some of the most interesting, important, and relevant technologies being developed at this moment, and who do you think are some of the most influential adolescents of the past five years?
I hope to use your suggestions to broaden students’ horizons, expose them to ideas and stories they might otherwise not have access to, and hopefully prepare them for the future. All thoughts and ideas are greatly appreciated!
