One of my favorite sites to browse is Hacker News from ycombinator, because the interface is so austere and clean.
Given lot's of us Steem users are nerds and are probably familiar with the interface and that it's global Alexa rank is under 1400 I know it's a popular design that's stood the test of time.
So I got the the idea last night of creating an interface for Steemit based off HN and this is what I've come up with so far!
Currently functionality is quite limited ( only worked on it for a few hours so far! ) but one is able to login thanks to the awesome Steemconnect.com javascript SDK from busy.org!
Once logged in you can upvote by pressing the grey arrows to the left of the post titles. Vote power is hard coded at 1% for testing purposes but I plan on adding a sliding scale.
It's going to take some time to build all the intricacies of Steemit into SteemH but I think it's the perfect fun project to learn the in's and out's of the Steem API!
