Slowly but surely I am getting more and more acqainted with Python. Lists, Dictionaries, functions. I’m lichting the veil.
I learned quite the useful stuff today through our external developer though.
I know with development and versioning, it’s essential to set up the proper development environment and even better, setup a git repository to control the development.
Sourcetree
He showed me how to setup SourceTree with a link to a Github repository.
It’s basically a GUI front-end to the inner workings of Github and from what he showed me so far it’s going to help tremendouslynin our effort of creating a clean and efficient development environment.
We’re in the process of cleaning up our local development environment which had become quite a mess after the original dev left years ago.
In that process we decided that it was the right time to re-order some things around and use github to develop future tools and versions of current tools.
Now at work, this is all based around maxscript but in the bigger picture I can totally use this for my langer scope development journey.
Future
I know from our @blockbrother dev @bennierex that he uses Sourcetree as well.
Who knows, maybe anywhere in the future I might just make a branch and put in a pull-request ! 😱
A man can dream can’t he ?!
