I'm starting to feel more and more like Orson Welles.
I don't want to compare myself to the guy. I never made a Citizen Kane. Lately, I did read a book full of interviews with the good man though, where I found out that he had so many unfinished projects. Now that's something I certainly share with him.
If you're interested in that book, it's called My Lunches with Orson: Conversations between Henry Jaglom and Orson Welles and is very much worth reading, especially for those interested in film.
Almost a year and a half ago, I wrote a post called The Power of Quitting where I explained how finishing something no matter what isnt necessarily a good thing. I had just canceled a feature film project that I had been working on for 9 months. It had been a tough decision and - as I had been sharing part of the process online - I felt like sharing this too. That project was a collaboration with my filmmaking buddy since 2013, Theodore.
Today Ted and I decided that we're gonna pause our current creative baby, that we have been enjoying ( seeing it growing up ) the last 6 months or so. There's a big difference between a year and a half ago and now though.
This time we're not breaking up with a fight. This time it isn't definite. Nevertheless, it was a tough decision, as always.
I don't necessarily feel I need to explain myself but, suffice to say that:
If something is costing you way more energy than you're getting from it in return, it's sometimes better to start focusing on other stuff.
For now Tunnels of the Shadow People will consist of 6 episodes. We were planning to make 12 of them and still don't rule out we won't release 6 more episodes in the future but time will tell.
If the first 6 episodes are suddenly going viral and people start to ask for more we will get the footage out of hibernation and see what we can do.
Sorry @sequentialvibe and @inuke , I told you guys that you could be part of this project and I'm sure you would have kicked ass. Who knows, it might still happen...
