Nike has amped up the hype to retail its limited edition sneaker merch with the Nike SNKRS app. The app was developed partially to overcome the issue of auto-buying bots that were able to buy or reserve sneakers faster than any human who attempted to enter his / her personal details and credit card information in seconds.
Nike got around this issue by incorporating Augmented Reality. The use of AR in the app requires a physical interaction by the human buyer for deals that are specific to a particular geo-location.
