The Multifunctional Roof Edge is a building technology product that allows for smart renewable energy generation on the roof of the buildings. While you can harvest both wind and solar power, you still keep a free roof area for additional activities.
It embeds both functional, smart design and energy power as following:
- solar photovoltaic front and photovoltaic or solar thermal back
- wind energy harvesting through MRE-hybrid
- energy storage using battery and heat buffer hosting
- lighting protection, anchor points and roof edge facade safety
- air conditioning or ventilation embedded space
- rain water storage
- maintenance monorail
- bee/insect housing
- antenna/anti-collision/weather station/video surveillance options
This is pretty great on how a roof can be extended and made to harvest energy from wind and solar, store water and become a green building.
