Pidgin is an Instant messaging client and is a free and open-source multi-platforminstant messaging client, working with the library named libpurple that carry many instant messaging protocols, which makes it possible for the user to at the same time log into a range of services from a single application.
Pidgin is extensively used for its Off-the-Record Messaging (OTR) plugin, which offers end-to-end encryption. It was written in C (C#, Perl, Python, Tcl are used for plugins).
The platform is Linux macOS and Microsoft Windows. The stable release date is (March 8, 2018; 3 months ago.
