Hi Hunters, If you want to setup your own discussion forum online, Simple machines Forum is best choice. In short SMF's code is opensource and free to use and modify. Moreover the full technical support also provided via largest community out there.

The code is written in PHP and uses MySQL database. Lot of online forums use this script to run thier discussion boards. It is very powerful yet free of cost. There is so many pluggins and themes available free to cost to download. The main thing is its User interface is very easy to understand and use as per my own experience.
