The real selling point I see here is the fiat conversion. Normally you need to send your STEEM to an exchange and then convert to another currency like BTC and then go for fiat and these things add up transaction costs and sometimes people have to hop through multiple exchanges (Eg: Binance doesn't deal with fiat)
Additionally you can exchange STEEM/SBD and STEEM Engine Tokens through the escrow services provided by SwapSteem which is convenient.

The exchange isn't without cons. There are no other crypto asset that isn't related to STEEM available. Liquidity is also low and they have a minimum transaction fee of 1 SBD which can be troublesome for smaller sized trades.
