I do not want to get into controversial discussions about who is doing what in the Steemit Witness realm, but the case is that people that are literally earning hundreds of thousands of dollars are fighting, and the products offered to the community that are making that fortune possible are getting letting down.
Anyways, we all know that there are still many things to improve, and it seems that the Rocket Chat powered old Steemit chat was not sufficient for the rich Steemit community.
The project to make a chatting platform for Steemit is now on new hands, and we still do not know what is the plan for it. The data set was handed out to @followbtcnews, and since today the domain is down, with a message from its previous administrator @riverhead and I infer that the move was not so smooth according to his current message that talks about being fired and some internal disputes among the witness.
This is the message shown at the moment:
If you are reading this then @riverhead, and by extension steemit.chat, has been fired.
In the meantime we can all take the next couple of days to reflect on what it means to vote for witnesses that bring value to the ecosystem.
The change of administration seems to go faster than we were prepared. @Riverhead announced the migration a few days ago, and sooner than later we got caught into the unknown:
While hosting steemit.chat over the last year or so has been challenging and rewarding it's time to hand it off to another team that can better support and improve it. I am currently in talks with a couple of candidates who have expressed interest in taking it over so I suspect this transition will happen to sooner than later.
So far the new team has not said anything about the migration nor the plans for the new chat, not even an official acceptance of the project. Things seems to be moving too fast and not much words to the community.
I hope everything goes along with the vision of improvement and to offer the best to the community that is making all the wealth possible. My best wishes to the old and the new, a please keep Steemit on.
Thank you for reading.
