Two days ago I was on phone with one steemit pal of mine and she made some statements that made me laugh.
She asked, "eeiii, so you don't sleep, you are always on stemit?"
Well sometimes I do sleep late but I certainly sleep, probably more hours than she personally does.
I laughed and ask here back, ***" why do you ask that?"
Then she gave me the idea to write this post. She said, "I made a post as late as 1 am and within some few minutes I saw you upvote and then I saw your comment too after a while"
Many of us are accustomed to getting notifications of replies, comments, likes, etc from other social media and that makes our mind pre-tuned to the getting same on steemit

Why did I mention @ginabot first? Well, to be frank, I'm in love with her. Seriously, this discord bot by @neander-squirrel is by far, to my knowledge the most amazing notification bot and well, it still isn't fully complete yet.
Gina can notify you of many things, and the extra details....... They are just amazing.
Notification of who followed or unfollowed you, plus their reputation, steem power, their number followers and followings, and the number of days they have been on the platform.
Upvoted or Downvoted you, plus the amount of their upvote to 3 decimal place, the percentage of upvote, the number of upvote the person have done in 24hr, the current $ value on your post, etc.
Who mentioned you, puls the link to the post for easy access
When your authors and curations reward are ripe for harvest and how much is it?
This is just about the basics one will expect. It gets spicier.
Delegation and undelegation
Notification for specific tags and mentions of specific names
Word match and when a specific whale or friend makes a post...

Steps To Set-Up
In a server where @ginabot is present or in a direct message
Type ..register username , where username is your steemit username without @
Gina will instruct you to send any amount of steem or sbd to @ginabot as proof of ownership of the account with a specified memo for her, whatever amount that will be sent is automatically refunded after confirmation.
Ater confirmation gina will send you a direct message with a link to your settings. If it does not come, you can request it by typing ..set username OR ..settings username
Enough about @ginabot, well we got to find other alternatives but hey, gina is the real deal

The most famous Steemit app by @good-karma, has the ability to notify you of every basic notification that a social media app should deliver.
As a newbie, this used to be one of my favourite app to use, at least you get some few tips for post and comments

Build Team Extension
This is a Minnow Booster to notify people of mention, comments and upvote. This is a link to the google chrome extension
All you need to do is set up your username and you are good to go, but there is no mobile notification and also delays sometimes.
