Just a week ago I focused on two crucial steem issues, namely how to find an alternative strategy to fund Steemit, Inc. and how to better accommodate steemit's global audiencie by providing multilingual support at the frontend level.

It turns out Steemit Inc. managed both to find additional funding without the need to sell STEEM and to postpone multilingual support on steemit.com frontend.
One word: Golos
Steemit Inc. and cyber•Fund agreed to create a russian fork of steemit, namely GOLOS. A 10% from the crowdsale will go to Steemit Inc. (that's some funding for steemit without selling STEEM).
The token for the russian fork will be named GOLOS and will have its own GP (Golos Power). The current steem community is promised a 10% sharedrop in the form of Golos Power, but there is no word on how they plan to make them easy accesible for non-russian speakers.
In other words, instead of developing a multilingual frontend for steemit.com and funding Steemit Inc. by selling shares to investors, we are witnessing what could mark the start of a series of steem blockchain forks for each relevant non-english language steemit community that could provoke a diaspora endagering the network effect of steemit as a social network.
