My first Steemit post, about how I quit my job and decided to go out on a creative limb, is the most I have ever earned in my life from something I have created. Madly eating a cupcake while repeatedly hitting refresh, watching the upvotes come through, I weirdly felt embarrassed, then happy and really nervous. I am still in shock. I have to be honest, for a while I thought “this can't be real.”
Your warm embrace has been GORGEOUS! I am one step closer to getting that coffee machine for my shop I have been dreaming about for a while.
Sure there is no guarantee to get paid for all original content on Steemit but a revolutionary blockchain ecosystem will no doubt resonate with many artists and makers as it did for me. I figure if I can share Steemit with others, more will join and this community will grow. Respect for value is eroding in society. The chance now to be compensated for original content, even in micro-payments is SO cool.
I think deep down I believe that $6,236 for my first story is being overpaid. But maybe writers of original online content systemically undervalue their work? Is Steemit the paradigm shift we have all been waiting for?
Whatever the case, I wanted to thank you all, from the bottom of my heart. I have a massive Steemit crush right now. It feels incredible to be a benefactor of such random kindness and welcomed so freely into this community.
