Hello all, so I was doing a bit of thinking yesterday and started to wonder what types of posts will get you the most upvotes. I mean, we all want to maximize our upvotes as we put a lot of hard work and effort into our posts. I decided to scroll through my previous posts and have a look to see which ones were the most popular.
So my two most successful posts (and in this case I'm judging success on the number of upvotes as this generally means that more people read it) were entitled: 'I met the Queen,' and, 'Could Steemit replace Facebook.' I'll insert the links to these posts below in case you want to check them out.

Firstly I'm going to discuss why i think they did so well. On my, 'I met the Queen post,' I gained 187 upvotes which is my personal record. So what was it that made people want to read this post? To be honest, I genuinely have no idea. In my opinion it wasn't my strongest piece or even any of my best work, so that definitely couldn't have been a factor. Upon speaking about this to my boyfriend @robintherunner, he said that he thought it was because Americans in particular love the British monarchy. Do let me know in the comments if this is the case or if I just got completely lucky and a whale resteemed my post or something along those lines.
Now the next post that did well and that I'm also going to be talking about has a bit more logic to why it did well. It was entitled, 'Could Steemit replace facebook or instagram.' Now speaking entirely from experience and with genuine honesty, I've found that writing posts about steemit (or sadly) to do with money or anything along those lines does seem be more popular. Why this is I honestly don't know, but it's something to bare in mind when you're writing your blog. Obviously you want a blog with a lot of variety, so don't solely post about these things. Perhaps just every so often or once every few weeks if your other posts aren't doing as well as you'd hoped.
Obviously I could be completely wrong with the conclusions I have come to - I mean, I don't have a lot of evidence to back me up. I might do another post later this week where I will do a bit more research into the, 'new,' and, 'trending,' posts to see what posts made the most money in those sections. I just want to quickly say that Steemit is not just about making money. Of-course it's a brilliant bonus and we all are happy to receive those extra dollars, however Steemit is also a friendly community. You should be on here for fun and to meet new people, not just for the Steem Dollars.
Anyway, that's all I have for you today. Please let me know in the comments what you thought of this post. If you found it helpful, make sure you give it an upvote, follow me or resteem this post. It would really help me out. Thanks so much for reading and as always, I hope all you fellow Steemians have a wonderful day. Xx
