I'm really looking forward to SteemFest Hackathon, in Lisbon. There are less than 10 days until I'll join some of the most interesting programmers in the graphene ecosystem (Steemit, Bitshares and Decent).
The only thing that bothers me is that I don't have (yet) a clear idea about what I should be working on. Not because I'm lacking ideas, but because I need feedback from potential users. I can code pretty much everything, but this everything will be worthless if's not used by real people, in real life.
So I thought to make a small questionnaire among my followers. It's not guaranteed that I will pick your suggestion, but it will greatly help me gauge my efforts and prioritize.
Steemit Apps
- obviously, there is steem.supply. One way to develop this further is to turn it into a fully fledged mobile app, based on react native.
- I'm also thinking of polishing my PHP Steem Tools package. Adding a few examples of what it can be built with, or perhaps a WordPress integration?
- I'm fancying the idea of creating a desktop app for Steem, also based on react native and electron. The drawback to this is that I have no code yet written, not a single line.
Bitshares App
- as many of you know, I deployed an asset of the Bitshares blockchain: RUNCOIN, a token rewarding runners. I am still pondering if I should follow the Bitshares route, in which case I should start working on an integration with Strava (for starters) or if I should wait for SMT. I'm 95% sure that SMT will be a better platform for RUNCOIN, but, until it's released, it could be an interesting exercise to start coding anyway. I may even build it with some sort of a "driver" as a storage, making it portable (from Bitshares to Steemit, in this case).
Decent App
- I have a very basic idea about how Decent works so far, all I know is that it is based on the same grapehene technology (I think it's actually a Steem-based environment). It would certainly be interesting to port to Decent some of the stuff I've been already working on for Steem (steem.supply or the PHP Steem Tools package) but the learning curve can be a little bit problematic, especially because the time is so short, the app is still very young and the documentation is relatively scarce.
So, what should it be? Let the flood of comments begin :)
