Quality is very important on Steemit, in the end of the day it is the factor which gains you the most upvotes/followers. However, you are right in everything you say. As being a newbie myself i've struggled with everything you have described and i'm still struggling. I can see people that have more talent or a better cause than mine on Steemit, they both encourage me to do better but also demotivate me in thinking that i can succeed. Seeing top trending posts which are low quality boosted by bots hurts my believes in Steemit, it makes me think i'm back in real life where the rich get richer and the poor stay poor. A guy invests a huge amount in his shitty post and gets 300 upvotes while a newbie invests nothing or a small amount to get 40-50 upvotes max.
To improve the experience of newbie's i think first of all helpfull posts like yourself's should be more visible. Maybe the steemit team needs to use these posts to pin them somewhere and make a FAQ-like page for it. I've also written helpfull posts for newcomers and i'm sure you have the same idea as me which is that you're ok with the $ it gains you, but you're more interested in it reaching as many people as possible so they can use your help. With your help they might grow and succeed which would eventually gain you more $ or atleast a good feeling.
I could write about this post all day long since i have many idea's about it, but this is enough for now. I want to thank you for your efforts to make life better for newbies here, my posts didn't reach alot people but looks like with those huge resteems yours will. I hope it will.
Good luck.
