I was out today with some friends for coffee....as usual and one of them mentioned cryptos and what's up with this decline. In most cases i try to avoid talking first about any cryptocurrency cause somehow the first thing that pops into people's head is that it's a scam and i am a scammer that wanna "take their money" by joining my pyramid scheme crypto shit.
So we were 4 guys and when one of them mentioned the decline in the prices immediately both of the other two shouted "It's a Scam". Although all of these are my friends i have never talked in front of them about Steemit and neither of my interest in cryptos (it's mostly interest though, i have close to nothing :P). Thus i was curious to find out what's happening in their minds and what exactly they believe or why exactly they think this is a scam. So i just plain and simply asked them!
Why do you think cryptos are a scam guys?
One of them quickly and smartly tried to see if i have any "relation" with the field and asked me beforehand if i have any crypto in my possession. I simply said i have no clue about cryptos at all, except that i know bitcoin went from cents to even 20.000$
One of them let's call him Person A said:
Come on man, how could something that basically came out of nowhere and you can't touch it, can earn so much value, something is definitely going wrong.
Person B then said:
The fact that from 20.000$ dropped down to 4000 shows how scammy it is and that there is no further future for Bitcoin
Person C once again tried to act smartly and said:
You think that the rich people that are behind corporations and governments will let bitcoin thrive? They don't wanna lose their money so it's natural to take it down. Also, what uses Bitcoin has? It has no actual uses in reality!
Then i asked another "silly question"
But i have seen in a popular site that there are more than one crypto and as a matter of fact i keep hearing about etherium and litecoin. What do you guys think about them?
All of them agreed that if bitcoin is a scam then these coins are 10 times the scam. They said that it just an attempt for other scammers to gain some more money by creating useless copies of it!
Conclusion and Thoughts
As you can understand by that, people are completely misinformed by the general media that keep preaching how bad bitcoin is and that it's not worth the time. Also these thoughts came from the lack of knowledge. I can guarantee that from the answers they gave me there is absolutely no chance that these guys ever searched, read or saw and educational article/video about these cryptos.
I don't wanna act knowledgeable i think i just know and understand about a 5% about the whole cryptoverse but at least i know that i don't know instead of them pretending to know while they have no clue. Even between friends that we all are, nobody admitted that he actually don't have a clue about the matter and that's a bit sad. Imagine if i started talking about Steemit and trying to explain what it is :P
