I owe a lot of my mind opening to Ron Paul. I was raised to be a staunch Republican, and I was for most of my early life. Up and until I did some research on RP. I had heard of him before, but always went with the populist opinion that he was an 'outsider', a 'fringe thinker', and an 'isolationist'. After gorging myself on you tube videos of him obliterating people in debates, I was hooked on the idea of liberty. He wasn't any of those things people were saying, maybe you could say 'fringe thinker' because technically, he was one of the only people really talking about true freedom and small government.
I was a avid reader at the Daily Paul but never got Michael (the creator) to grant me a membership. Once I had asked him in an email, I read a few days later that he was pursuing other ventures and the Daily Paul would be no more. There went my shot.
A lot of the users who I had read for years were now talking about where they were going to take their talents, South Beach was not on the radar. Multiple different liberty minded sites were mentioned and I checked them all out but none of them had the pizazz, the community, the 'feel' of 'home', that the Daily Paul did.
I am hoping to see that some of those great advocates of liberty that I got to enjoy reading every day at the Daily Paul eventually migrated to Steemit.
