The reason for this is obvious - Facebook has more human visitors than any social media website on the Internet, period!

Facebook is the 3rd most visited website in the world with over 2 billion active visitors each month, and an average of 11 minutes spent on the daily by its visitors.
Facebook is a perfect social network to get more people on board the Steemit website.

Below are some the vital reports that are important to us as Steemians.
- Daily Active Users: Facebook's DAU (daily active users) increased by 17% from last year's Q2 figure; a total of 1.32 billion people are active daily on Facebook.
- Monthly Active Users: Facebook's MAU (monthly active users) increased also by 17% from 2016 Q2 figure; a total of 2.01 billion people are active monthly on Facebook.
- Messages On Messenger: Over two billion messages are sent every month on Facebook Messaging app, the Messenger. With a 1.2 billion monthly active users.
- Facebook Groups: Over 100 million Facebook users are members of meaningful, non-spammy groups.
Why Facebook Is Important To Steemit
With the average Facebook user having more than 166 friends on Facebook, encouraging many Steemians to promote Steemit posts on Facebook is a most for the growth of the Steem ecosystem.
Let's assume every Steemian has a Facebook profile and are involved in promoting Steemit on Facebook (I am sure 95% of steemians have a Facebook profile).
If we have 100,000 active Steemians, that means Steemit could reach a potential of 16,600,000 active Facebookers each month.
If just 1% - 4% of the people reached sign up to Steemit, we could be looking at onboarding 166,000 - 664,000 people to Steemit in just a month.
Having a lot of people on board the Steem ecosystem will increase the price and value of Steemit.
Conclusion
The growth of Facebook is a good thing for Steemit.com. Many Steemians are already using Facebook to promote their posts and build their followers on Steemit.
