First post of 2018!
HAPPY NEW YEAR'S EVERYONE!!
We started off the year with an explosive move in the price of Steem! Congrats to everyone here who have been continuously supporting the blockchain!
To start this blog off, I want to share what happened at work yesterday that could be significant to my future, both in real life and on steemit.
Yesterday on Tuesday January 2nd, my work mentor announced that he is putting in his 2 weeks notice.
My Mentor is Quitting.
No kidding. I was VERY excited when I found out. Here is a former Marine who is a Veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom II out in Iraq. In his 40's who decided to leave a well paying Structural Engineering Supervising job to face the unknowns yet again. This is a man who is determined to change his ENVIRONMENT to better suit his NEEDS. How many of us can leave that type of work security and chase after another dream? Hats off to an outstanding Marine! He has a lot of great stories behind his life and he is even featured in one of my old Steemit posts! (Video Below!)
In fact, I recently told him about steemit.com and how he can submit content for potential cryptocurrency earnings. I offered to set him up with a go pro once he gets a new job and start a page called Tails From the Road! So be sure to check out his page in the coming months!
But as with all things in life, there comes a balancing of events. The problem I now face is not having a supervisor or work mentor. I'll roam around by myself for a while because I do have several jobs that I can run myself, but ultimately this means that I'm going to be passed onto one of the other supervisors. I don't know how I'm going to feel about the work environment from here on out since he played a massive role in how I enjoyed work so much. I certainly have no problem performing my job after his departure, but I've lost a significant desire to continue working there. This is also partly due to how we we both not given enough resources to work through 2017's hectic work schedule.
So where does my own future lie at this company? I recently posted about how I felt with my bonus, so it's clear that I am not the most satisfied employee there. I've asked for another hire to help out and after the brunt of the work is over, they finally said yes, so I searched around and was only able to return 1 Resume who they interviewed and apparently liked from what I've overheard. So what does this mean for me?
Is my time up too?
Or is changing supervisors and mentors a logical step?
What about steemit? What...about...steemit....
