HP is launching the ZBook x2, a 2-in-1 mobile workstation with specifications that will not embarrass any standard workstation and is designed to be a portable solution for creators such as video editors, music artists and more.
It's so hard to impossible to read this laptop in any name other than a workstation, for the simple reason that it's the main goal of HP, a mobile workstation.
The computer comes with optional Intel Core-i5 or Core-i7 processors of the previous generation or the latter with a dedicated Quadro M620 card for Nvidia.
Unlike the standard laptop, the ZBook X2 comes with high technical specifications and special adjustments to make it a dedicated laptop for users focusing on Adobe software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere and more, with 18 dedicated buttons around the screen.
The ZBook supports 4 modes:
- Laptop mode - Normal laptop configuration.
- Detached mode - A state in which the keyboard is disconnected from the screen but still in use with Bluetooth connectivity.
- Docked Mode - "Connected" mode in which the ZBook is connected to 2 4K screens or 5 standard screens.
- Tablet mode - Standard tablet configuration.

To support the content creators, HP integrated Wacom's EMR (electro-magnetic resonance) technology to receive a 4096-degree pressure stylus without charge.
In addition to the unusual design, HP has increased its production of the ZBook 2 with support for the US military MIL-STD 810G, which makes the laptop exceptionally durable and allows it to be used in difficult terrain conditions with greater durability than parallel computers.
When trying to think of a similar computer, the ZBook x2 comes as a direct competitor to the Microsoft Surface, such as the Surface Book 2 launched this month, when HP itself compares the ZBook 2 to Microsoft's Pro and Book computers.
HP has not spared the technical specifications and allows a very large adjustment according to user requirements:
- Processor - Core-i5 or Core-i7 processors 7 and 8 (i7-7500U, i7-7600U, i5-8250U, i7-8550U, i7-8650U)
- Memory - up to 32GB DDR4.
- Storage - SSD from 128 GB to 2TB in SATA or NVMe on M.2.

This is not the cheapest or easiest computer available, but a dedicated laptop, a workstation, for those who need this power. This is one of the few cases where you can get it on a 2-in-1 durable computer.
